Why hello there, XC90! What are you doing in my driveway?

For $20k, it's a great bargain.

$20,000 for a four-year-old vehicle? There are certainly far better bargains from non-premium makes, unless you're dead set on the badge.

It's not the badge as much as the rest of the car.  Finding a car that my mom likes is like pulling teeth.  After my mom drove the XC90 for a day, she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ro, why does 65k miles bother you?

2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

She'll hate diesel passenger cars, all things Ford, and fiat currency.  They will masturbate to old interviews of Ayn Rand an youtube together.

It's only 40k less miles than my car!

Point being?  The previous owner actually drove the car and had it maintained.  It's also certified pre-owned with 6 years warranty, or until 100,000 miles.  With the amount of miles we drive, that'll be 4 years from now.

It definitely seems like a lot of miles. It's also a turbocharged car, so I might be weary of that.

A family friend has had an XC90 for some time now, and they seem to love it (they have a rare 5 seater).  I think they look great and oddly enough, Jeremy Clarkson loves them.  I don't see the why for the hate.

Don't be.  It's a light pressure turbo, tuned for torque rather than performance.  Besides, turbo failure in a modern car is extremely rare these days.  It's not the 1980's anymore.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.
