If you could only have one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?

You may pick any production road car currently in existence. The only thing is that it will be the only car you'll ever have for the rest of your life, serving daily commuter/family hauler/whatever else you use a car for/etc. duties.

Right now I'm thinking a Lexus LS460.

For the rest of my life?  Shit, that means this car has to last me for 60 years or so.  Okay, well then this would be my criteria:

1. Tough and long lasting
2. Fast
3. All weather and All terrain
4. Can carry a family and all our stuff for skiing, camping, waterskiing)
5. Comfortable
6. Fun to drive
7. Would be reasonably innexpensive to fix after the warranty runs out
8. Good availability of parts in 50 years.

Vehicle = 2010 SVT Raptor or 2011 SVT Raptor SuperCrew (to be released by fall 2010)

Submariner

911 4S.

Beautiful, fast, has a stick, can be used even in bad weather and who can resist the sound of that flat-6.

Let my wife drive the kiddy-mobile.

Outback XT 6spd.  All the power I'd ever need, plenty of ground clearance for most situations, and I could even stick a small trailer behind it for loads larger than the already huge cargo space.  If I want a more serious offroader I can just rent a Jeep for the weekend or something.

Have fun replacing those Fox Shox.

Me, I'd go with an STI. 4WD for the ski trips, hatchback for practicality, and it's awesomely fun to drive.

That's true.  I'll probably have to stock up on them at some point so that I have replacements down the road.

Now if my wife could have a vehicle as well that changes things.  She can have a Volvo XC90 and I will have a 2011 Mustang GT with Track Pack and 400 hp.

Rupert

I dunno what I'll need in 30 years, so I can't answer it.

If I have the same needs as now, then an old Porsche 911.

If it doesn't work out, I'll just fake my death and get another car.

Vinsanity

Fine. Same rules apply to your SO, and you could drive each other's cars if you needed to.

My future wife would get a Land Cruiser. I might splurge a little bit and go for a Mercedes CL.

You sure are stretching the rules with regard to "currently in existence" ;)

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

You can take the troll out of the Subaru, but you can't take the Subaru out of the troll!

Yes, but unfortunately the Subaru Legacy wagon turbos are only sold in wrong hand drive now, and I really don't want an Outback.

Don't worry, I'm sure the other car in contention is also a subaru.  All is well.

911 Turbo and I'm not even kidding. I think that's the only car, that would completely satisfy me and give me the feeling that I would never like to buy another car again. And yeah, I plan to let my future wife drive a family car.  :partyon:

But since you've said the car should be capable of doing allmost anything... I guess an Audi A6 Station wagon with a big Diesel would be totally perfect.

Corvette. Fast as a Porsche, but parts are cheaper and you can fix it with a hammer.
