Seriously.  I have never seen it.

My parent's Durango
My parent's Regal
My friend's Cherokee
My friend's Disco
Other friend's Disco
My friend's Olds
Our Dodge at work
Our Ford at work
Our Chevy at work
My boss's Yukon
My friend's Pathfinder
My friend's Rodeo

Need I continue?

I think it might be easier to name the cars I've been around that didn't have a power motor go...

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I had a power window that stopped in a Subaru Impreza. Now, I have a car with crank windows.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

She'll hate diesel passenger cars, all things Ford, and fiat currency.  They will masturbate to old interviews of Ayn Rand an youtube together.
You can take the troll out of the Subaru, but you can't take the Subaru out of the troll!

Wow.  I've been driving for 16 years and my parents' had cars with power windows in them since 1983 and we've never had a power window motor fail.  Not even one.

I have two co-workers who both own Jetta TDI's and both of them have had the power windows on the driver's door fail.  When was the last time a power window motor failed in...anything?  Albeit, that's the only problem either of them have had.

Wow, that didn't work out so hot...

Either way, you'll not ever convince me that the average VWAG product will be as reliable as the average Mazda product.

I'm still not getting why used the  :evildude: smilie.  I've never said the Mustang is trouble-free.  I just said I have personally never seen a failed power window motor on anything but these two VW Jettas.

my friends 2001 firebird went through like 3 window switches i remember

My dad's 2000 Lincoln LS had the same window motor go out two or three times in the 120,000 miles he had the car. IIRC, it was the drivers-side rear window motor.

Maybe I've just been lucky.

Sounds like it.

I am pretty sure it was a design flaw of some sort. The last one to go out was the first one replaced and then none of them went out again for the rest of the time we owned it (another ~5 years and 70k miles).

LULZ @ power windows failing.

Jesus Christ.

My car is probably as beat as any car on the road can be, and it is still on all its original window regulators + tracks.

Anything and everything electric works. A/C system, brakes, all still functional.

There is NO REASON for such a simple part like a window motor to fail.

Tave

LULZ @ Honda Accords. My friend Bridgette's Accord has been through a window motor or two itself.

Now that I think about it, I think my parents had to take their Accord in to fix a slow window too.

A slow window can be attributed to old tracks. A quick squirt of silicone spray will fix that.

Again, not to take a Cougs like stance on this but if a manufacturer can make an engine last for 300K miles they damn sure better be able to make the windows open and close for that long too.

I remember reading on W210s it was recommended to just not use the rear windows at all, as the regulator design was flawed. How can anyone accept that?

MKIV Jettas suck ass... there is no getting around that; you don't have to be stuck in the past to acknowledge that.

Um, yes you do, if you think it's indicative of current reliability.  Do they still sell the MkIV Jetta?

Tomorrow, you will find that none of the power windows in your Jetta work. Also, the engine will fall out as you drive down the highway.

VW has never been able to get their electrics 100% right

I mean its possible things have changed, but that would be about as believable as me telling you the latest Corolla is exciting.

I wouldn't mind me a Corolla XRS, the one with the 2ZZ-GE that revs to 8,500 RPM or whatever.

I have had enough exposure to enough Accords to say that that is not a regular problem for them. Not like the V6 auto tranny bombs, or... I can't think of any other widespread problems Accords have.

TBR

I have a friend with an Accord (the 93-97 gen) whose window motors went out. Mine are awfully slow as well, once I get it back from the mechanic I'll give the lube a shot.

I'm not trying to slam Accords man, I'm saying as far as problems go, it's a regular one for any car.

No kidding.

My parents Durango had something like 5 power window motors go out.
My brothers dodge could top that. It had 3 transmissions put in it in less than 4 years.
