The MkV looks so much better than the VI.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

GoCougs

MS3 owing to much better utility of the wagon layout and much better reliability WRT VWAG.

Nah

Yeah.

The MKVI isn't bad looking, but I hate it due to sheer laziness on VW's part.

You could argue the laziness bit for everything OTHER than the styling, which looks much better than the MkV's, IMO.

No, VW is badging a facelift and restyling as a whole new generation. That's lazy.

J86

GTI every day...like the way the new one looks too.

:facepalm:

Enter the B7 A4. Despite the fact that it was billed as a new generation, everyone knew it was just a facelift. It didn't last any longer than a facelift.

Got a chance to take a new Speed3 for a spin today.  It's ugly as sin, but that thing is a rocket.

I read that, and now I want MS3 again. GTI can suck it.

GTI.

Not particularly attractive (the old one was though), but it isn't ugly.

I voted for the GTI. The MS3's ridiculous navi screen setup sealed the deal.

Onslaught

Neither. Make the rear wheels push them and it be different.

i finally voted GTi... fuck it, if i want a rocket on the track it better not be FWD - so the better DD it is

Yea that too. A well set up FWD car can really be a hoot though.

Okay, in the past day, I've heard about the reliability issues of a Jetta, Toaureg, and Tiguan.

It's a good thing I didn't vote yet. I'm going with the Mazda. Coincidentally, the dealer we work with at work is a VW/Mazda split dealership.

At least in the tests I know (evil biased german ones) the reliability of the Golf was said to be very good. Autobild even tested the Golf on a 200.000km distance and it did very, very well.

In the current Autobild there's an article about used Mazda 3s though. They are very reliable cars, but they have one major problem: rust. That doesn't make them bad cars, but the picture of

Mazda=good reliability

VW=bad reliability

doesn't fit here.

Some people are stuck in the past.  Some people also believe that Japanese cars are the only ones that can be reliable.  There's no point in arguing with them.

VW has consistantly ranked slightly below average in reliability surveys.  The bulk of that is from the popular Jetta (MkIVs in particular were notorious for issues).  The Golf, being German-built, has generally been ranked pretty highly in reliability.

MKIV Jettas suck ass... there is no getting around that; you don't have to be stuck in the past to acknowledge that.

I have two co-workers who both own Jetta TDI's and both of them have had the power windows on the driver's door fail.  When was the last time a power window motor failed in...anything?  Albeit, that's the only problem either of them have had.
