How realistic do you want your seating position to be?  You could get a Rennsport Wheel Stand if you aren't too anal about it.

I'm using my desk and a friend's Fanatec Turbo S wheel with Clubsport pedals. It works out pretty well.

He has Clubsport pedals?  I'm so jealous.  I think I'll be replacing my pedals with another normal set for 1/4 the price.

His normal pedals broke on him a few days after he got it so he ended up sending them back and paying the difference for clubsports.

And do you guys use the pedals barefoot?
o

I usually wore socks or did it barefoot.  With shoes, there's just not enough feedback for me to be smooth with them

This was with a wheel/pedal set I had back in like 1999, though

I go barefoot. Much better control and if I slam the pedals a little I don't worry about breaking them.

I like driving barefoot as well, though.

No it's much better in person.

Then again I don't like being too close to the monitor.

Also, I bought a G27 for $260 with a $60 mail in rebate. :praise:

How much does that wheel stand run?

And my worry is that my place will look like a 15 year old anime-enthusiast's dream apartment with all this shit in it.  I need to make sure I have the closet space to hide all this shit when I have guests over....

Compared with the Turbo S, I thought the G27's wheel felt better. I haven't actually used the G27 so I can't comment on the force feedback though. The pedals are far better than the standard Turbo S pedals but not as good as the Clubsport pedals, and I thought the shifter for the G27 is nicer but a lot of people like the Turbo S shifter.

The GT3RS does have Alcantara but the shifter is extra and I got the G27 for $200...
