Aston Martin to Add Second Convertible Model
Date Posted 08-23-2005

GAYDON, England ? Aston Martin plans to add a second soft-top model to its range.

The V8 Vantage Volante will be a convertible version of the new Vantage coupe launched earlier this year at the Geneva auto show.

Aston has trademarked the design of the V8 Vantage Volante with the U.K. Patent Office, a sure sign it'll be launched soon. Powered by the same 380-horsepower 4.3-liter V8 as the coupe, it offers a more affordable ragtop than the current, larger DB9 Volante, which was launched in 2004. It will be built alongside the DB9 range at Aston's new factory in Gaydon, England.

The Vantage Volante is a fabric-roofed two-seater and is expected to hit the showrooms in 2007, with a price premium of around $8,000 over the coupe. It could make its debut as a thinly disguised "concept car" as early as next year's Detroit or Geneva Motor Shows.

What this means to you: The new Vantage stunned the crowds at Geneva this year ? watch the topless version repeat the feat next year.

"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

Quoteare they planning a Vanquish Volante?
I would think if they were it would have been revelaed/produced already.  So I guess not.
