So do I.  Although I'm wondering how comfortable the 2nd row actually is.

I'm not too sure. It may be based upon the BMW X1, or be a raised and distorted Cooper/Clubman.

I can't win. I've driven them farther than you have. I've driven them faster than you have.

I drove a MINI that was half carbon fiber and was boosted to about 250-300 hp. But none of that matters. Go fuck yourself.

I'm almost positive that I've had more seat time and have gone faster in a Mini than you have. So has MexicanCityM3. We both agree that is actually a very practical car, even in Cooper form, if the majority of your driving is with one or two people.

The back seat in the regular Cooper (not the cabrio - it's more cramped because of the roof mechanism) isn't really all that bad for short trips, especially if the people in the front seats aren't too tall. I'm sure they'll be fine in this car.

The idea of a 4-door Mini is quite good.

Turning it into a utility sports activity machine is grotesque and preposterous.

I thought that was a pack of smokes, but I guess the Mini Countryman won't be going to Marlboro Country. It's too bad, because that's where the flavor is.

You can clearly see in the lower right that the front seat is folded forward and moved forward all the way for that picture. As I surmised, the back seat will still be useless.

But when does a MINI become a MAXI?

When they make a modern-day version of THIS car: the 1969-81 Austin Maxi.

Quote from: omicron on January 21, 2010, 04:58:03 AM

Ahh, one of the most memorable scenes in British comedy history!  That's not a Maxi, however.  It's an Austin 1100 Countryman (3-door wagon/estate).

Here's a side view of the 1100 Countryman:

However, Sybil Fawlty drove this Austin Maxi in a couple of the later episodes.

If it's anything like the Clubman it'll just be a physically awkward looking vehicle that is still entirely impractical.  (Not to say I wouldn't still want a MINI, but the Clubman is absurd, IMO).

i agree with you about the clubman, but i do like this "suv" a lot. i wonder if it will replace the clubman? would make sense to me. if awd and more room than a mini car, i could see it sell well.

Land Rover offers front mudflaps as on option. It is to prevent pebbles from hitting the bottom front of the vehicle when you are going in reverse.

It's an aerodynamic device designed to deflect air around the tires.  I've read that improves airflow under the body and overall aerodynamics as a result.

Purposeful or not, it still looks like they've fitted the mudflaps the wrong way round.  Besides, it's not as if anyone is ever actually going to take this rig off road anyway.  If I wanted an off-road Mini, I'd get one of these....

Actually Teuton (fuckit, I'll call ya Jakob, I mean if we're facebook friend we must know each other, right ) this has gotta be one of the few goddamn places where it makes sense to own a truck in an urban area.  Flash floods and what have you...

Agreed! Nobody believed my before. Potholes, flash floods, driveway egress/ingress elevation differences, SUV's do come in handy. The A4 is not a fan of the New Orleans streets, it's beating on the suspension hard.
