Official Pictures: Audi RS5 Coupe

SVT_Power is correct about the V8. Looking at the S5 coup? engine bay, I guess it would be very hard to squeeze a V10 in there.

Btw. it must be very difficult as an Audi salesman to explain to a potential customer of an S5 Sportback and Cabrio why the V8 was thrown out in favor of a supercharged V6, while the salesman of the S5 coup? is praising the V8.

This car makes me wish I was rich.

well on the bright side, I've seen B7 S4's going for $25k now and RS4's around the $40k mark already....

Frankly, the guys at M division may even relax after this announcement. Consider:

1. This will barely beat an E92 M3 (30hp more and 0,1 secs in 0-100km/h).
2. Heavier (not announced but I am willing to bet).
3. More expensive (10k at least).
4. Maybe not available in the U.S.
5. DSG only.
6. When (and if) it gets to this side of the ocean the next M3 will be a couple of years away at most.

The RS4, that was something when it came out b/c it destroyed the E46 M3's performance and raised the bar. Not so this time around. This is incremental. And the A5 looks fat.

Audi's never really been able to match the M cars in terms of driver involvement imo. It's always been somewhere between M and AMG

I wouldn't bet on it being much more expensive than the M3. The S5 is pretty much inline with the 335xi (or whatever the hell they call it these days).

It has a measly 317 lb ft of torque. It has the M3 syndrome! No torques! I'm disappointed.

Not too bad for a 4.2L.  I would have expected a bit higher, but maybe the curve is exceptionally flat.

The A4 is a huge car and weighs a ton.  You should consider something else.

Since when is the A4 huge? That's a pretty ridiculous statement, and it weights a reasonable 3626 lbs. according to this: http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2010/audi/a4/comparisons/index.html

rOtor, the new A4 is a ton of fun to drive, especially with the new 2.0T 4-cylinder with 258 lb. ft. of torque.

It certainly was, but that curb weight is as high as my old E class and 400 pounds heavier than my similarly sized Jetta.

It's also much more luxurious and has a much bigger motor.  It's packing 450 hp which also means everything needs to be beefed up.

The A4 is the car in question in that post, not the RS5.  Take 200 off for AWD, and it's still got 200 extra pounds.

Funny how 3626 lbs is a "reasonable" number nowadays

For reference, my mom's 8-passenger Venture (albeit with the structural rigidity of a noodle) weighed 3,750 lbs.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Yea the thread drifted towards my delusions of...

- Buying a B7 A4 2.0T Quattro (~$20,000)
- APR S3 turbo upgrade and ECU upgrade for 318hp ($4,000)
- Stasis engineering Street Sport Coilover suspension ($1,200)
- Stasis Engineering Alcon 4 piston monoblock brake upgrade ($2,750)
- Stasis high bias center differential ($550)
- Nice wheels and tires... probably RS4 knockoffs ($1,500)

...and having one hell of a fuel sipping luxo track monster...

It's no problem.  I understand the confusion (it happens a lot on this forum).

If the RS5 weighed 3600 pounds, I'd call it a triumph.

Well as long as you stay off the bewst (which I somehow doubt would be easy to do in a car like that), it shouldn't be too bad...
