Walked past this Chevrolet stand a few weeks ago. They were advertising these cars at the entrance of the Neues Forum of the Deutsches Museum. Here we have a new Chevy Cruze and the Captiva SUV. I only took pictures of the Cruze. The Chevy salesmen ignored me but if they had spoken to me, I was going to try and pull off my "excited American tourist" role with my accent-free English.

"Whoa, we don't even have the Cruze yet in the US! This thing is so awesome! Toyota watch out!"

And here, also spotted on the same day: Chevrolet Alero. WIMMER DA EXOTIC SPOTTER!  :praise:

Can't wait to hear what Madman has to say about this thing.  :tounge:

I really don't like the headlights on the Cruze.  They look awkward.  Personally, I prefer the new Aveo.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

The interior of the Captiva is straight up Daewoo. No thanks.

If it had the Equinox's dash, I'd be on it like a fat kid on a candy bar.

The Captiva is old, it was introduced in 2003.

Daewoo interiors scare me. Aveo, Forenza -- terrifying.

I don't think the interior is too bad - it's a budget SUV, what do people expect?

The Equinox's interior is certifiably nice. That's what I'd expect.

The small knobs, hard plastics, and generally plain Korean design just don't do it for me.

Keyword - BUDGET.

Have you ever driven an Aveo or Forenza?

I rest my case.

PS Budget doesn't have to mean 'shitty.' Case-in-point, the Dacia Duster.

It's just as bad.

AutobahnSHO

That Alero looks really really bad with a bowtie.
I kinda like the Olds version.

The Alero was supposed to be the car that would destroy Toyota and Honda. Unfortunately not many people bought them here, either, at least not in New Jersey or Florida (where I lived during their lifespan).

I kinda like the Cruze, personally.

There's not much to say, really.  The Oldsmobile Alero was sold in select European markets as the Chevrolet Alero, where it replaced the equally unsuccessful Chevrolet Corsica.  Evidently, Switzerland was the biggest market for these cars, proving the Swiss are indeed strange people!

In Switzerland the Alero was probably viewed as an "exotic premium car" or something. I know the Swiss are quite keen on American cars and some exotic Japanese brands (Infiniti for instance).

Switzerland is the only European market where Suzuki sell the Kizashi (did I spell that right?).

Why is Switzerland treated so differently than other western European countries? Are the Swiss just weird compared to their neighbors?

They keep the dirty and illegal money of millions of peoples safe.

They make great chocolate products.

They avoid wars.

You have to treat such people with respect.

I think the fact they're not in the EU probably has something to do with it, business-wise.
