Not the New Fusion, not the New 6, but these particular cars are pretty comparable. This is not the new Fusion, or the Mazdaspeed 6.

2o6

To me, this is harder. I like both cars.

I think the Fusion gets it for me.

No V6 MT Mazda 6 is eligible.

why would you exclude something that actually exists within similar reach?

Mazda 6 5-door fastback with the V6 and manual transmission

If the MS6 is an option, that one.

nickdrinkwater

Fusion, but Ford Five Hundred above either!

SVT666

Mazda6 with the V6 and MT.  I actually giggled when I drove it.

hotrodalex

Mazda6, as I own one. I would rather have the V6 and MT, but I couldn't find one. (and it's my commuter/winter car)

Same for me.  Though I'd take the wagon first if it was available with the manual transmission.

I like the Fusion.

But the 6 is a better car. Why did it get my vote?

the Fusion could possibly be the better value proposition. As in, you could probably find a better deal on one than a Mazda 6.

I like the Fusion an awful lot.  But the 6 gets the nod for availability of a manual transmission with the V6 (my dad's car is thus equipped, and loads of fun).

The 6 is also a better car.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

I think you should drive both of them. I'm not talking about the "new" Fusion, either. I'm talking about similar vintage cars. The 6 may not be as good of a family car, but you might as well emasculate yourself if, as an enthusiast, you'd rather have the Fusion.

Six, baby, six.

The Fusion is nice, but too oriented towards the family sedan market.

The 6 is aiming for the enthusiast. I love the looks of it also. I hope to own an example one day.

CJ

I went with the Fusion.  I vastly prefer the styling and think the interior is nicer.

hotrodalex

I am tempted to get a new 6 when it's time to get rid of mine. They are great cars and the new one looks like it is as well.

It's no longer special. It's a nice car, but it doesn't hold a candle to the first generation model.

True. The interior is nicer and it's bigger, but I don't know if it's as fun to drive. I'll have to test drive one sometime.

It drives like a Sonata with a slightly stiffer suspension.

Even though I've never actually driven one, I've always really liked the first gen 6. It gets my vote.

CJ

I have too, but the Fusion seems like a much more buttoned down car.  I really like the styling of the Fusion, too.  The 6 is a remarkably good car.
