After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

I voted Ranger, just 'cause I think it'd be cheaper.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Payman

Ranger. This truck and the Mazda B-series were tough and reliable little trucks. The 2.3 engine was archaic and inefficient, but parts are cheap and it's easy to work on. The Sonoma was a shitbox.

Walk?

If I HAD to pick I'd take the Ford.

Seriously, its been a great truck.  It certainly won't help you attract women, but it does what its suposed to, reliably.  Mine has 230K, been on fire at one point in its life and towed a camper trailer to Texas all without needing any work besides normal wear parts.

Ranger.  They've been building the same truck with slightly revised sheetmetal for 238 years and it's as reliable and tough as you could ever want from a small truck.

I haved owned both a Ranger and a Sonoma, so I am the only one qualified to make this decision.
Sonoma has the best interior, with three power points, luxurious cloth, and extra extra foot room.
Sonoma only needs four spark plugs to make more power from a smaller pushrod engine.
Sonoma has a tough suspension but still rides like a Cadillac.
Sonoma doesn't need new front tires every 3,000 miles.
Sonoma is red.
Sonoma.

Did your Ranger have the Ford Twin I-Beam catasrofuck?

Oh god the damn spark plugs... Don't remind me.

Now, my folks have a little S-10 2WD. The interior is all plastic, and all cheap, though the power points do rock. The rest of the truck is, eh, fine. It does ride pretty well. My Ranger had a basic interior, but I never felt like it was about to shatter going over bumps, and it still had two power points, which is respectable. The Ranger definitely rode like a larger truck.

The nice thing about the S-10 is that it comes with the optional 4.3 L Vortec V-6, which is a waaay better engine than the Ford 4.0 L that you can get in the Ranger (and that's in my 'Sploder).

I still like the Ranger better, even if I try to be a little objective.

At least you can lift that suspension properly if you want...

I'd like a Duratec Ranger, but the older ones are not so happy.

I'd like a 4.3 Vortec Explorer, but that's expensive.

Vortec = better gas mileage = that's kind of the point and more power is just a perk

I had mucho fun with the Dakota 5-speed I drove at the BMW dealership, sans the fact it was, by far, the slowest thing I've ever driven.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.
