Hi.

NO FOLDING SEAT

1996 PLYMOUTH.

100K

SOHC

Base coupe, no options. (Except A/C)

5MT

Things I like: Small size, very mechanically sound. New tires, good clutch, new radiator.

Things I don't: No options, this is a 96' Base model. I don't even have a passenger side mirror. The radio was also stolen. Body also needs work.

Planned mods: Body work. Might get some factory wheel covers. Would like to get seats sometime soon. But first, I'm going to get a radio.

Congrats!  Finally you got a damn car.

Glad you got a car! Radio is a easy (and relatively cheap) fix. It looks like it needs a good cleaning before much else though.

At any rate, congrats on the car  :ohyeah:.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Payman

Seriously though, congrats. You got a small coupe with a 5 speed for your first car... good for you.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Oh, and nice shants.

It was probably good that the radio is missing, since it could be used as a point of negotiation. You'd be replacing the radio with something modern, anyhow.

I paid a little more than I'd like to, but nothing outrageous. The fact that this car literally needs no mechanical work is the killer for me. All the other cars in my price range looked better, but needed some work some where (aside from body work).

(Listed for $1200, I got it for $1050)

That's the seller, not me.

I know it's not you. Impressive all the same.

I never thought I'd see the day when you got a car! Congratulations, man! It's not bad at all for what it is.

I'm going to get a stock unit.

2o6

I pick it up tomorrow, and Friday I get my temporary tags, and put it on the insurance.

Then I get to learn how to drive it. You should have seen me, I didn't realize the handbrake wasn't on, and when I put the clutch in to start the car, it started rolling down the street. Then I didn't realize it wasn't in neutral.....it was in reverse. I started the car only to have it quickly go backwards.  Finally, I put the handbrake on and made sure it was in neutral.....and started the car.

Congrats!  You will never forget your first car.  Mine didn't have a radio, either!

Why get a stock unit? Good stereos are dirt cheap and much better than the crap that came in this car. I know... I had a 2003 model.

Aftermarket stereos tend to get stolen in my area.

Congrats on your new vehicle. Even with needed bodywork, it looks pretty good for a 1st car.

As for a new stereo, just make sure to get one with a removable faceplate. Take it off religiously and you should have no problems. Don't have the volume way too high ( advertising ) right before you park either.

well, that kind of awesome just doesn't happen with factory wheel covers, friend.

but HEY...at least now you can hold a Top Gear Challenge against Swift and PlastiCar, and post it on youtube to amuse the rest of us

CJ

Can my 850 be included in the Top Gear Challenge?  I just want to rape them all.

2o6

Too expensive.

My car would likely beat both cars, the Swift and the SL2.

If Nick still had his Volvo, you could have one against that and one of Madman's cars, but it won't be nearly as epic as Swift vs. Neon vs. PlastiCar
