If we make it to 2012, the new V8 will come out then.

Hyundai is wasting no time updating its successful Genesis sedan. Officials at a press event in Korea told Inside Line that the 2012 model due out next year will offer a new 5.0-liter V8 rated at 429-horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to the extra power, the Genesis V8 will also get an eight-speed transmission.

Asked whether or not the 5.0-liter engine would fit into the Genesis Coupe, a Hyundai engineer said yes, "but we have chosen not to do that, possibly for the next generation."

This will justify the jump up from the V6 to the V8. Right now it's kind of like the GS350 vs GS430 kinda deal. They need that GS460

When the Genesis Coupe 4.6 or 5.0 comes out, let me know, please.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

I don't know what's true now.  Every article has stated the V8 would not fit in the Coupe because of the raked hood line.  This engineer says it will fit.  Who knows.

They said they won't do it until the next gen Gen Coupe.  I can find the source where I read it if you want

Engineers are like that - a bit of an undisciplined rabble. I'll bet that in a very naughty moment behind closed doors, they scribbled a bit here and a bit there so that the V8 would indeed fit under the bonnet.

Speaking of naughty, there's something particularly rambunctious about a 5.0 V8 Hyundai; a four hundred and twenty nine horsepower Hyundai, to be exact. Perhaps a call to an aftermarket suspension business to firm up the ride a little and put some feeling back into the steering, and this might just be the perfect car for dumping debtors in the Meadowlands.

The jump is already 75hp.
The difference in performance is negligible.

14.6@95 to 14.0@103.... OK there is a difference there.

But its competitors are deep into the 13s, so it needs to catch up. Hopefully that won't bump up the price significantly.

I am still hoping either Hyundai or Infiniti comes out w/a V12 powered car for under 70K.

From a price standpoint, its competitors are all V6 powered cars.  None of which are in the 13s.

Hyundai has a way to go before they can sell a 70k car...

V12 in and of itself doesn't mean a whole lot - it's pretty outdated in this day and age where N/A V8s in the 6.0L range can easy reach 450-500 hp which is well more than enough for a large luxo barge.
