El Barto

It was a very hot day at the track, the temp was over 90 and it was very humid but a light rain helped cool us off near the end of the race.  The shower was short enough that it had very little impact on the race, most of the cars stayed out on the dry tires.  The Team CytoSport Porsche RS Spyder driven by Klaus Graf and Greg Pickett won the race giving CytoSport their first win.  Jorg Bergmeister and Pat Long won the GT Class in their Flying Lizard Racing 911 RSR beating the BMW M3 of Bill Auberlen and Tom Milner by 1.5 seconds.  The LMP Challenge class was won by Gunnar Jeannette and Elton Julian of Green Earth Team Gunnar.  Andy Lally and Henri Richard of TRG won the GT Challenge Class

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

I've seen the ALMS when they've raced here at Donington Park.  Really good stuff to watch.  I think I've still got the programme somewhere!  Good pics.

Those Ford GTs still look amazing.

I think Robertson Racing is the only team that's run the Ford GT in ALMS, and they've only used since the end of the 2008 season.  It's too bad Ford didn't race the GT, it might have given the Corvettes a good challenge in GT1.

Maybe. I don't know if the shape of the car is one that would work as well as it did in 1966 as it would in the 2000s -- even with Ford's backing. But, my god, it looks like a cool car in race spec.

Fire It Up

Jorg Bergmeister is insane. My two most favorite ALMS videos are of him dueling [Biela I think?] in a Ferrari 430 at Sebring until the very end and of him dueling a Corvette at Laguna Seca until the very end.

I went to a rolex grand am series event thee other week... I don't like the cars as much as the alms series but the event was sweet as all the pits and garage areas were completely open to fans and they even let you walk put road right before the race started with all the cars in their pits

... Well that and in grand am you get to hear the spine tingling shriek of 3 rotor engines...
