A parking enforcement officer is recuperating after being attacked while handing out a parking ticket.

The officer was ticketing an illegally parked truck on Haimer Ave., near Kipling Ave. and Steeles Ave. E., on Saturday evening when he was confronted.

Police say the owner of the truck came out of a nearby house, approached the officer without saying anything and punched him in the face so hard that he fell to the ground.

He then got in the truck and fled, but was caught nearby by police, said Const. Tony Vella.

?If you have a dispute, take it to court,? Vella said. ?Don?t take your frustration out on them.?

Parking enforcement officers deal with a lot of hostility on the job, added Vella.

?Most of it is verbal abuse, but occasionally there is an assault,? he said. ?People need to understand these officers are just doing their job.?

Staford Wright, 67, is charged with one count of assault. If convicted, his punishment could range from a fine to some time in jail.

And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

I don't see anything wrong with this.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

So a male parking officer was punched by a 67-year old and fell to the ground? Either that's one strong 67-year old, or the parking officer is a big pussy...

Meter maids get abused all the time because people know they don't have any real legal authority and can't make arrests.  But it's usually just verbal, not physical.
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, DAMN...that was fun!

A punch to the face can easily knock you down if you aren't expecting it.
