I'm not defending the truck driver, but rearward visibility in these large pickups is downright terrible, if not unsafe.

Because of the height and length of beds, it makes seeing out of any late model truck really difficult.

Agreed.

When I'd drive a fullsizer at the E, being a compact car person myself, I would put on the turn signals a bit in advance and check to make sure traffic had cleared before switching lanes.

I also drive like a grandma a lot of the time, so go figure...

Total loss.

It made me feel really bad when the inspector was praising the "dealer mint" condition of my car and going down the list of things that were unusually pristine for a car of that vintage.

:cry::cry::cry:
Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear that dude.

Are you going to buy it back, keep some stuff as memorabilia and part out the rest?

And, I'm not sure how it is on those huge trucks, but with the mirrors adjusted properly, there is no blindspot on the MDX. Unfortunately everyone always adjusts the mirrors so they can see the back of their car which creates a huge blindspot.

It's fucking useless to keep the mirrors that close to the car because what you can see out of the side mirrors is already shown by the rear view mirror. What's the point of that?

My solution: Add sensors to pickups and make pillars smaller.

Yes, all of that is glass.

So is it off to the junkyard? There's a good two grand just between the differential and the hardtop on there... at least try and find out which junkyard it's going to :P

I believe that it is going to the junkyard, yeas. I'm keeping the hardtop and the stereo.

You want to buy it back and salvage parts?

I may depending on what they want for it (i.e if I can swing it). Tis a shame to lose so many low-mileage mechanicals to a yard.

That sounds like a good deal. Whatever I don't recoup by reselling (or whatever I throw on my car) I would just repay out of pocket of course.

I really do feel awful for you. I've been trying to imagine what it'd be like to have something like that happen to my car. Hell you're half the reason I was inspired to search for mine in the first place. You or your boyfriend are more than welcome to borrow-a-brum any time in the future.

Hey no partslust here :P I wish this had never happened to Kevin in the first place. It'll be a lot of effort on my part (have to buy a crane for the engine and etc) but I don't want to see this thing wasted in a yard. At least worth the time to let other people enjoy it in some form.

We technically move in on the first of February but we are meeting with the owners tonight. I don't think they would have a problem with storing the car in the garage before our official move-in date (the place is empty, we have the money down, and the garage needs no work). I'll know for sure later tonight.

OK. If I can't store it at our new place I'll just keep it outside of our current house under a car cover. So I guess it is more accurate to say I will know WHERE it can be taken by tonight.

Is the car driveable or did the front right control arms get bent?

I'm not actually going to drive the thing around, I just want to know if rolling it in and out of the garage is going to be an over-toed squealy crabwalking funfest or a regular affair.

Solara and it's clientele are often one in the same:

Chick who's consistently 50lbs overweight and dresses wrong for her body type. However, she's always "breaking" some sort of diet. Annoying and high strung, so she's single. In a somewhat higher up job, but has no taste (judged by clothing and car choice). Bought a Solara because it was "cute" and "quiet". She likely got hosed, too.

One in the same what?
