I can't believe we let this thread fall by the wayside.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to do much fast driving in a while.  I haven't driven any real distance since my trip to Boston in March.  Even for medium length drives, there's a lot of traffic.  I drove to my nephew's house yesterday, about 35 miles, and I barely broke 70 mph with the traffic.  Much of the time I was below that.

Maybe I need a trip out west.  I'd love to drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.  Or in Arizona.  Or maybe Wyoming.

Montana, US50 in eastern NV.

What road were you on?

Rt 531 in Mexico.  All other traffic was doing 90mph so I just did 100 quick just to come here and say I did it lol

Yesterday I found out that the S2000 redlines 4th gear at exactly 100 mph.

I was having some fun passing people on two-lane highways.

How is the driving out in Colorado?  Is it as great as I imagine it to be?

Yes. Which is why it's very hard to get an S2000 over 100 MPH in a 1/4 mile.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Last weekend I drove to Columbus and while passing two semis I decided to go WOT and see what the new engine would do. Speedo maxes out at 125 and it hit that very quickly and was still pulling hard. Being the responsible adult that I am, I backed off at that point. The car is gear limited at 143 and should hit that easily if I wanted to.

There are some awesome desert views especially at sunset, but it's sort of boring. Two lanes in both directions and it gets congested on the weekends from people going to/from LV or LA.

But I did top out my SV on that freeway once upon a time, so that was fun.

There are lots of good roads (though they're often clogged up with those damn cyclists :rage: ) and the scenery is just incredible. But the altitude makes cars go slower.

Hence my 911 Turbo suggestion. Or GT-R. Both seem like the perfect fit for Denver.

A Focus RS would be a good choice. Glowing reviews so far.

On a side note that major inspection and the TÜV costs set me back 920,- Euros!  :mask:

I've had all four brake pads replaced, four new spark plugs, fresh engine oil, transmission oil and a bunch of other new things. Overall that stuff with the mechanic working hours amounted to about 640,- Euros. The TÜV costs added the rest.  :shakesfist:

For a 100,000km service that seems ok to me.

Yeah, it's ok. It was the "Big Service" so a lot of wear and tear parts were replaced. Plus it wasn't that bad in terms of pricing - the TÜV costs added 1/3rd to the total price.

I need to post a couple of instrument panel pics I just took last week.

The outside temp display while on I10 near Needles California.  Temp read 119F, verified by the weather reports and the outdoor thermometer at the motel we stayed in.  It was still 100F at 4AM.

The MPG readout pegged at 99.9 MPG after filling up and descending to the lodge at Yosemite.

We just took the CLK on another 4,200 mile road trip, this time to San Francisco and back.  B service is due and I need to replace the OEM brake pads and do some other PM stuff.
