A pretty cool idea as long as it doesn't affect cooling at all.

It shouldn't affect the cooling system at all.  Ford's smarter than that.

I guess they have a sensor that tells it to open or close depending on the engine temp.  I guess over the long run they could end up like the pop up headlights on sports cars from the 60s and 70s
