I like it, even though I'm positive I've seen it before.

Lol, it must be really cheap for manufacturers to absolutely plunder their platforms. I mean look at all the cars VW has on said platform

    * Audi A3 Mk2 (8P)
    * Volkswagen Touran (1T)
    * Volkswagen Caddy (2K)
    * SEAT Altea (5P)
    * Volkswagen Golf Mk5 / GTI / R32 / Rabbit Mk5 (1K)
    * ?koda Octavia Mk2 (1Z)
    * Volkswagen Golf Plus (5M)
    * SEAT Toledo Mk3 (5P)
    * Volkswagen Jetta Mk5 (1K)
    * SEAT Le?n Mk2 (1P)
    * Audi TT Mk2 (8J)
    * Volkswagen Eos (1F)
    * Volkswagen Tiguan (5N)
    * Volkswagen Scirocco (13)
    * Volkswagen Golf Mk6 (5K)
    * ?koda Yeti (5J)
    * ?koda Superb (3T)
    * Audi Q3

Like, all the trims and stuff much be dirt cheap to customize, there is seriously NO POINT to this car w/the Jetta & A4

Galaxy

That is hot. It has the Audi design language while being more different then the last clones have been.

Maybe if you stopped trying to rationalize the entire automotive market down to two choices; medium sized sedan and four-place small coupe, you wouldn't be so surprised and outraged.

Imo that is something that VW AG does right. One the one hand the platforms do reduce costs, yet the cars end up different. One would never guess that the Tiguan and the TT share the same platform.

Btw. this A3 is a completely new one, on a completly new platform MQB. That platform will take flexibility to new hights with the Bluesport mid engined, rear wheel drive roadster. Essentially an A3 driving in reverse.

Yeah, looks badass! Pretty pointless, but badass indeed.

This may not come as a surprise, but I love it. Give it a rearward bias Quattro system and the uprated 2.0T from the S3 and I may just have to replace my Jetta with it.

Disagree.  The 1-series does have an ugly potbelly though. That side sill line is atrocious.

But for the most part, this car is uneventful and boring.  Like most Audis these days.  At least they're consistent.

I dunno, BMW seems to be shifting that way, too.

At least they differentiate themselves from each other a bit.  They're more attractive for the most part too.

The S5 is the only thing that really gets me excited about Audi.  And even then, the M3 is better in every way IMO.

EDIT:  Well, the R8 too.  But it's not really attainable for most people, so I don't even consider it really.

Looks pretty good. The current Audi A3, which is so common here, in all forms (including the "Sportback") has gotten pretty boring lately in terms of styling.

Not to mention obsolete. The A3 never got as heavy an update as the Golf did. Imo the Golf is currently superior to the A3 in almost every regard, including fit and finish. The A3 also does not compare well to the new A1.

I am digging it (surprise).

Although more and more it looks like the A3 is taking the A4's previous spot, and the A4 is moving up to A6 size. The new A6 doesn't really seem much bigger than the current A4...?

sportyaccordy

The A6 is much bigger than the A4. 8" longer and a whopping 10" wider (though this could def be a typo). A8 is longer by about the same. All luxury cars have seemed to move up a class leaving openings for cars like the A3 and 1 series,  which at the end of the day might not be the worst thing.

10 inches wider is definitely a mistake, no way that is true.

And I personally don't think 8 inches is that much of a difference. The last time I owned an A4 (2005 model year) there was a 15.5 inch difference in length between the two cars. In fact my current car is almost dead smack in the middle between the lengths of the old A4 and the old A6...

In any event at least something is filling that void of a small sedan in Audi's lineup. Should be interesting to see what the production version looks like.

IDK man.

Maybe if they make a "quattro Coupe" style little 3dr hatch. Other than that, another front heavy AWD Audi

omicron

I love it. By far the best-looking Audi.

That combination is quite arousing.

I can almost guarantee that the quattro variant will be DSG only.  Just like the A3 hatch and the TT.

The current A4 has a weight distribution of ~55:45 which isn't so bad.
