Microbus revised and made more relevant. Now, it's sort of a VW xB. I like it, a lot.

Power comes from a 113HP Electric motor.

It's too literal and cliche.

Mustangfan2003

It would be a better idea than the Crouton.

Literal, no, but definitely cliche these days.

I agree that it isn't as unique as introduction in 1998(?) but it's a cute little car.

Rupert

I read the blurb, and hell no. The Microbus was a road trip machine, therefore this, basically a minivan, AKA best for road trips, would need to be a road trip machine. But with a range on it's pure electric motor of only 186 miles before needing an hour to recharge, you'd never get anywhere!

On the other hand, finding a station and waiting for it to recharge would be an awful lot like finding a VW mechanic and waiting for it to be fixed, and that's pretty true to form...

Hmmmm, where have I seen this before?

Oh yeah, that's where!

By the way, Volkswagen already has a legitimate successor to the iconic Transporter.  The 2011 Volkswagen Transporter.

Hey Volkswagen, keep the retro-rubbish (and rebadged Chryslers) and give us the real VW van!

Madman, we had the real van...and you probably don't remember how it did here.

I remember filling up at a gas station once next to one of those VW Eurovans.  They look pretty neat but I don't think the moms dig them.

It's not for the moms, it's for bricklayers, builders and plumbers.

This is the VW Mommybus.....

AKA, the Sharan.

I guess VW might consider bringing the Transporter here if some of the new Euro inspired vans do well here

Rupert

They even made camper vans out of the modern Eurovans, and they looked almost just like the old Westfalias. I know some people with one, and it's awesome.

The van is for both plumbers and families. It is for everyone and everything. I think this retrovan is intended to cause greater distinction.

The Transporter is the work vehicle.

The Multivan is the family van

The Multivan Business is the rolling office.

The Caravelle can seat up to 9. Hotel shuttle basically.

The relationship between VW and Westfalia to build campers continued until 2001. Then DaimlerChrysler bought Westfalia and VW cancelled the contract. Unfortunately VW was the biggest customer and Westfalia went bankrupt. The name has since been resurrected. Today VW itself has taken over building the California-camper at the Hannover plant.

These are some of the worst press photos I have ever seen. They are so FAKE beyond belief! Clearly both cars were digitally placed into that location.  :mask:

Who says it'll automatically be reliable now? It'll still need fixing along with charging. If you have bad luck, it will need fixing 50 miles after your last charge, making you stop twice as often.

You all do realize that this concept is physically smaller than the 2001(?) Microbus concept, or even the Compact MPV Touran? It's close in size to roughly in between a Polo or Golf. It's a retro-styled B/C segment hatchback; in short VW's xB, Cube, Soul or PT Cruiser.

Then it's stupid to try to use the old Microbus as a styling basis.

No. It looks good, that's all that matters. I mean, the HHR was styled after a Surburban, and the PT an old Plymouth Truck.

Rupert

... And both the HHR and PT are stupid, so... ?

No. 60 photos are needed to make a point. It's a far more well-rounded number than 58!

well the Golf is about the same length as a T1 so....  ;)

But I do agree that it should be larger.
