QuoteSubaru of America today announced the world debut of the all-new Subaru Impreza 4-door and 5-door models at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. The new Impreza will deliver 36 MPG highway, the highest fuel economy of any all-wheel drive car on sale in the United States. The new designs will provide a roomier interior and improved levels of comfort and refinement.

I remember the days when Imprezas looked...different.  Unique.  Cool.

This definitely looks decent...but boring.  For now.

Chevy Cruze meets Mazda3.  It could be worse, I guess.

I see Accord. I see Mazda3. I see Chevy Cruze.

What a mundane Impreza. Maybe Toyota should have stole it for the Corolla?

They hyundai'd a car... making a collage of all existing cars and call it a new design..

ifcar

It looks the most like the Legacy, just de-bulbified.

Looks like they just ran a picture of a Suzuki Kizashi through a photocopier......

I think it's actually a good move for them as a brand. The Impreza is supposed to be their entry level vehicle that helps bring more people into the door. If they can make a real competitive economy sedan/hatch, then they can expect to get more people into the door to check out some of their other models.

Also, they're making a entry level coupe as well yes? That should please plenty of the enthusiasts who are worried about the Impreza losing its street cred.

The Kizashi works on a Suzuki, bit not for Subaru. The Kizashi is a rather handsome car.

The complaint is that it's already been done.

I like it.

It's bland, yes, but it's not ugly, and the beltline looks fairly low and visibility looks nice.

Plus, the WRX/STI versions will probably look awesome anyways, with the massive rear wing, bigger wheels and bulging fenders, so I'm not too concerned with how the base model looks.

BTW the title is misspelled.

What you're trying to say is that it's a vast improvement over its predecessor.

Also:

I'm a little surprised by the split a-pillar.

It's chubbeh. Impreza's are pretty large as is - it's why my parents went with an SX4 instead of a third Subie.

subaru is in the business of selling cars and i'd say this '12 model will do quite well.

The first Impreza was pretty. All legacies up until now have been pretty attractive (with the previous gen BL being the prettiest) the SVX and XT were odd looking and distinctive.

Now, they look like bland crapola cars that really don't offer too much unique to the market, save for AWD.

It looks bland, but I have no idea what it will do to sales. I take a look at the Honda line up and they seem to sell just fine for such a gaggle of gargoyles.

Why is the side mirror so far back?  Why are they trying to bring back the A-pillar wing window from 80s trucks?  Why is it so boring?
