It's......not much different? On the upside, that means they haven't ruined it.

I guess it befits a newly global car to blend the styling of its two predecessors.

Secret Chimp

Hey look, another Opel, now even more obviously so.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

I think your new Malibu clearly looks better than the Chevrolet Epica, which is just a badge engineered Daewoo. Is the new Malibu based on the Opel Insignia platform?

Going forward all mid-size, front-drive GM cars worldwide will be built on the "Epsilon II" which, yes, the Insignia uses.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Malibu uses the longer wheelbase version that the Buick Lacrosse uses.

Now that the Epica is being eliminated worldwide in favour of Malibu will Strayans be driving around in Holden Malibus?

Especially when Toyota is far more dull, and they are starting to lose the quality that backs them up.

I can see what you're getting at, actually.

Atomic

the hood and most of the front-end look like those of the current ford taurus. it works better on the awd version of the taurus awd models w/ its "chunky" kinda look.

CJ

It's just so...dull.  Even more dull than the Camry.

If that's the tail lights for the US car, I'm likin' it.

I see the similarities, but I'm not sure how he made the connection. Very random.

CJ

i love the rear... looks like the old but updated to be very contemporary (w/ LED lights and all) "traditional chevy" roundish lights. kind of like those of the current "retro" camaro.

There's no style there either.  Just some squares and rectangles.

That's the beauty of it. 1970s and 1980s cars had that cool boxy styling factor. I actually think most cars from the early to mid-1990s were far more boring and uglier and bland than the awesome cool stuff from the '70s and '80s.

Hyundai took a risk, and it paid off big time. Chevy...yawn...

But then if we were expecting this from the same maker as the Cruze, we'd all be the real fools.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

GM took no risk with the Cruze, and it's also paid off big time.

It looks handsomely bland and will probably be slightly nicer than the last one quality wise. Should do well.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

I still can't get over the render-y-ness of this picture. I think it's the grille; it just looks disproportionately large and ill placed on the front end, and the detailing of the grille itself is sort of off. And really, how big is that Chevy badge going to be? Also, the bar through the grille isn't centered, and that bothers me here just as much as it does on the Cruze.

Anyway, I'm more interested in the powertrains this car's going to offer than the appearance. Anyone heard or read anything about that?
