Probably the antithesis for most enthusiasts, but I actually like V8 FWD cars. Granted, they are not the best ideas, but they're a cheap way to go very fast, and in some cases, the car won't embarrass itself in the curves, or can prove to be quite entertaining.

Which would you have? (Pick two)

Ford Taurus V8 SHO

Cadillac STS (FWD, obviously)

Oldsmobile Aurora

Pontiac Grand Prix GXP

Cadillac Allante

Buick Lucerne

Buick Lacrosse Super

Cadillac ETC

Pontiac Bonneville GXP

Lincoln Continental

Chevrolet Impala SS

Onslaught

Onslaught won't do FWD. Never again.

style would take priority over handling if I were even thinking of any of these cars. Eldo or DTS for me.

I voted Lucerne. In a poll of archaic cars, might as well go with the most modern of them.

I was trying to keep it more modern, but the Toronado is something I would like to own one day.

Cadillac DeVille for me.  Love the looks of the 2000-2005 bodystyle.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

The Grand Prix GXP came with somewhat uprated suspension specs and some pretty aggressive brakes (which naturally people bitched about).  But it was still a poorly put-together W-body Pontiac and had massive torque-steer despite it's impressive straight-line acceleration.

I voted for the Impala. Yeah, still a W-body but this particular interation is the final and most well-sorted of the bunch, so it's a better all-around drive than the GXP.

Yeah, I thought about the Impala SS, and it's probably my second pick.  But if I'm going to have a FWD boat, I'm loading the car with friends and heading west, and a cushy ride for the highway would be key.

Yeah, good point.  The LaCrosse Super certainly has some get up and go to it as well, but again, not quite as cush, or spacious.

2o6

Aurora, then Bonneville in 2nd place.

The Bonneville looks great.

S204STi

But it's put together by gnomes.  And not the good kind, the kind that drinks its lunch and constantly falls asleep on the job.

CALL_911

I have to say, the Bonneville is good looking. That said, I'd probably take a Lucerne Ultra. Like iffy said, may as well go modern here.

I know it's got a V6, but can I put a write-in vote for a TL Type-S? It's got the same amount of power as these cars, and it's 1000x more desirable.

If I were to put that in, then a plethora of other cars would be on the list.

Let's stay to V8 FWD.

Fair enough, I wouldn't quite consider the TL a boat anyway.

Northstar Allante with the Bonnie a very close second!
2014 C7 Vert, 2002 Silverado, 2005 Road Glide

Gotta-Qik-C7

IIRC those V8 Bonnies had differant size tires (front to rear) to help with the torque steer.

I thought it was the GPGXP that used wider tires in the front.  I remember the press noting that as one of the key differences between the GXP and the Impala SS and was one of the reasons the GXP seemed to handle the power better than the SS.

The GP GXP did in fact have different sized tires front/rear, along with being equipped with aggressive rubber.  IIRC the fronts were wider.

None of the above for me.  I'll take the Lancia Thema 8.32 with it's gorgeous Ferrari-based 3.0 V8.

I'm guessing/praying the radio is beneath that panel?

Of the poll choices, Bonneville. Always had a soft spot for that design even though I know the chassis is complete rubbish and it's truly a boat.

Off the list....

Golf w/Northstar V8

Or a B5 Passat with the VAG 4.2 V8

Same. Once you go RWD, it's hard to go back.
