I'd vastly prefer one of these to a W204.

Wow.  I'm a huge fan.

The new 3-series and 5-series are two of the best proportioned cars out right now.

The 3-series still has a manual, so it'd for sure be my choice. It does almost look a bit bland, but I guess that is what we enthusiasts have been calling for (a return to the understated elegance).

hotrodalex

Interesting that they still had camo on one car and not the other. Guess they just didn't feel like taking it off?

It looks dreadful.

CJ is the only one here who isn't blind obviously.  :ohyeah:

This new car is horrible. It looked "interesting" in the press photos, but in person it leaves you underwhelmed - me and Colin were bored and "uninterested". Granted, every 3er has been conservative and "elegant and handsome" in their own way - except the last and new generation. BORING.

At the end of the day Dodge Diplomat > 2012 BMW 3-Series in terms of styling!

I seriously can't believe I'm going to say this, but I almost agree.  I saw a mint Diplomat yesterday and thought it looked pretty sharp.  I HATE the front end of this new 3-Series.

Raza

The only detail I really hate is how the headlamps touch the grille.  Unfortunately, it's enough to make me not want to buy it.

It looks more taut than the current model. I like it.

It's definitely a pointier design.

I agree 100%.

Saw the new 3er again today in traffic, but couldn't get a shot. It was coming at me on the opposite side of the road.

My god, absolutely hideous. It's mainly that transition between the grille-front headlights that makes the car look so goofy. The F10 5er side profile and rear look don't really bother me that much, except that the 3er ends up looking like a shrunken 5er.

I also saw a new red BMW 1-Series 5-Door today. The front just kills the car. Nice side and rear profile/design, but the front is just hideous. HIDEOUS.

I'm sure it can be solved in the aftermarket.

I still think the E90 is better proportioned, though this one is better looking overall until you get to the front third.

I don't understand how you guys can have such strong opinions either way about this car when it looks pretty much the same as the old one.

The headlights simply look terrible. The front fascia is far too low. I know it's for pedestrians, but it's making ugly cars.

Atomic

One logical question to ask CTS owners: Would you move up from your CTS to a larger Cadillac when/if you out grow your current car? Then ask BMW, Mercedes and Audi drivers the same question regarding their brand.

good question, but I think Cadillac is trying to answer that for us- the next CTS is going to be larger, and the ATS will slot in below as the smaller entry-level model. I'll have to see what the next CTS will look like in order for me to know; I do have a feeling that it will be more stylish than the ATS, which will be more focused on performance.

sportyaccordy

Im really curious about the ATS

REALLY hate the name though, would HONESTLY rather it be called the Cimarron

LOL. Thankfully they have much better historical names at their disposal. Lasalle would be a nice one.

Raza

What does ATS even stand for?  Allante Touring Sedan?  That doesn't make sense.

American Touring Sedan! Hopefully it doesn't get overshadowed by the Canadian Touring Sedan.

Colonel Cadillac

Cadillac needs to go ahead and release the ATS. We've been hearing about it for a number of years now.
