THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! People on the primarily European forums I post at love it.

This is GM level badge engineering. And to top it off, the Skoda is ?1000 cheaper than the VW. Same powertain, and everything.

And there's supposed to be a SEAT version, too.

Much better than the VW version. Much, much better.

I read a comment on another forum about how this version of the car is awful by comparison to the VW because it looks so blatantly 'cheapened'. I think this person may be blind and/or crazy.

Where's the exclamation point in the thread title?

They slapped on some new headlights, changed the wheels and flattened out the kink in the rear window. That interior is EXACTLY THE SAME.

Why not? It's the same thing as the VW version but has a much more sensible name.

Who cares about the name? They did nothing to really differentiate it from the VW. The Skoda is cheaper for the same car....what is the point of the VW?

93JC

I care about the name. I wouldn't want to drive something as pretentious sounding as an up! (I shudder whilst typing it).

Add on the fact the Skoda is less expensive and otherwise exactly the same, what's not to like?

"What is the point of the VW?" What indeed. I think it serves only to look overpriced and stupid compared to the Skoda.

2o6

I can't believe you focus so much attention on a stupid name. It makes you sound crazy.

93JC

Less crazy than some kook with a car called "up!".

93JC

You do realize I'm just winding you up, right?

The first thing I thought when reading the name:

Though I guess it's hard not to be a better name than "Up."

They should have kept the name "Fox" or even "Lupo".

cawimmer430

This looks so much better than the VW up. It even looks more upscale.

Knowing how the three brands relate to each other, I can see how the Skoda Citigo will be the better value-for-money version and the Seat version will be more dynamic, sporty and focus on more "emotional" aspects. I have no clue what the point of the pricier Volkswagen Up! will be.

If I was in the market for a car here I'd definitely go with the Skoda. Looks better than the Up! and is better value.

Better looking than the VW and ?1000 less?  Sounds like a no-brainer to me!  What sane person would choose the VW over this?

What if you want to roll down both front windows at the same time?  Look at the driver's door panel and tell me how I roll down the passenger window from the driver's seat.

Ha! Good eye.

I'm surprised this car doesn't have crank windows. For a little two-door city car like this you might as well.

It needs electric windows, electric seats, electric this and that because if it's ever sold in America...

I like it. Better-looking and cheaper than the Volkswagen, and with a name that makes the driver seem less of a twat. Sell it here, please.

I also like the VW more. It looks cheekier and cuter.

This is GM level badge engineering.

Keep in mind that this is a ? 8.000 car, at that price they have no budget to really  individualize.

The question is why even pretend to. Are there markets Seat and Skoda are in that VW is not?

No, but VW doesn't have the same market perception every where it is sold.

And Mii is a dumber name than Up!. Mii reminds me of this:

The Mii looks Asian from the front.
