I drive a 2500 lb car with 168 hp, and I'm usually the quickest accelerating one out on the road.  Doesn't mean I don't wish for more though.

Hopefully a turbo'ed BRZ STI will remedy that.  280 hp in 2600 lbs would be pretty ideal.

I don't know, I enjoy being able to hit redline in 1st through 3rd while accelerating on the freeway.

More power doesn't mean you go faster in each gear, it just means you get to those speeds faster.

Well, that's not as fun IMO. Speed limits feel that much more oppressive when it's obvious that they're preventing you from using more than 20% of your car's potential.

A car with a boatload of power and torque wouldn't be geared as short as a car with a smaller engine though.
