This is completely open... just wondering what you think is the best/most game changing offering in 2011

Inspired by MT's choice (new Passat)

Payman

You mean for 2012?  If not the Passat, I'd go with the Kia Optima.

CJ

I thought it'd end up being the Chrysler 300. It's a fabulous car, truth be told.

My pick?  Optima, for sure.

Lots of good choices this year.  Out of all the only car I've been inside is the new Focus, but I didn't get to drive it.

Yeah, I think I might go Veloster actually.  It's a game changer for sure.

To be honest, I haven't really paid much attention to the industry this year. I'll have to think about this one a bit.

sportyaccordy

Interesting so many people chose the Veloster. Its kind of been panned. Looks good but dynamically flat

Yea, I could give a crap less to tell you the truth. The Optima is a nice looking car for what it is. But if that's what I've got to pick for CotY then I'm sad.

I don't really think it looks all that good. Some angles I like it, other angles it looks bad.

Me either. I'm way behind on my car magazines as well. I think I'm reading April/May issues at the moment, the newer issues are sitting in a pile on my couch, waiting for me to read the older ones first...

The used market is great for enthusiasts right now. Plus there doesn't seem to be too much room for innovation... It's all about meaningless tech

That....simply isn't true.

How, exactly, are the Passat and Veloster....game changers?

The Veloster I kind of agree with; it adds a theoretical sporty entry into the subcompact segment.

The Passat, I don't know.

Why? The 2.0t is a terrific 30k car.

That's just one trim level essentially.  I think their reasoning for the Passat is that it's big, priced well, drives well, and has powertrain options for many types of buyers.

The Veloster is an ugly piece of shit and everyone who thinks anything of it should be seriously examined by a mental health professional.

I'm with Raza.  The Velobster (or whatever the hell it's called) is hideous.  Fiat 500 all the way!!!

I've been examined by a mental health professional, and they could offer no official diagnosis. However, any 500 other than an Abarth Essess seriously needs to get lowered in price because I am sure not paying $20,000 for something my $11,000 Accent can outperform in every area save for the quirky-cute styling dept.
