QuoteWASHINGTON - Collisions, close calls, running red lights, stop sign violations and pedestrian accidents. WTOP has obtained hundreds of shocking video clips showing Metrobuses involved in these types of incidents.

From a bus rear-ending a stopped SUV in a school zone to a pedestrian getting hit by a Metrobus while in the crosswalk, the videos provide a window into what actually happens behind the wheel every day.

The clips were obtained through a Public Access to Records Policy request.

The videos include the reaction of "awww, man" to a collision to the driver arguing with a passenger that he didn't just run a red light.

Span of time and miles covered?

Another report said these are from a two-month period.

I don't think anyone is using the videos as statistics, though. I think the point of having the videos is to show what's behind widely reported statistics for the bus system (two serious injuries per million passenger trips, or five million passenger trips, or something like that).

Also, some of the clips show accidents/near misses where the bus driver didn't do anything wrong, or avoided the crash.
