AFAIK

The 3.0i Z4 is carrying a 230hp M54B30 engine (no valvetronic, aluminium-only block)
The later 3.0si Z4 is carrying a 262hp N52B30 engine (valvetronic, aluminum+magnesium block)

Not a feasible upgrade.

Your car as your signature says is N52B30, same as the later Z4s but not the earlier 3.0i ones like Raza's.

Wait, Raza and I's cars are the same model year. Did BMW not start putting the N52 in Z4s until MY 2007?

ETA: This seems to support my proposition:

He mentions 2005 and 2007, skipping over 2006.  2006 was the first year of the Z4 3.0i and 3.0si.

Wikipedia says N52B30 for the 2006:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Z4_(E85)#Engines

MSN Autos also supports the 215 number from the N52B30:

S204STi

It would easy enough to determine by looking at the emissions sticker attached to the underside of the hood.

I checked under the hood.  Engine displacement is listed at 2996cc, which matches the N52B30.  I think that settles it.

You should get those wheels cleaned.

Otherwise, it's a hot car.  :ohyeah:

I think some will chime in and tell you to get pads that don't dust.

I'm going to tell you to stick with the stock pads.  They dust for a reason, for good grip, but also good heat dissipation.  I went with some HAWK performance ceramic pads that were advertised as same performance with less dust.  The warped my rotors pretty quick, or at least laid down material to make them feel warped.  Also lost some pedal feel.

I think my dad switched to similar less-dusty pads, but I don't like them. They don't feel as strong.

The ceramic pads are for track use only though.

Do you have opinion on ceramic pads on an SUV? Cleaning the LR2 rims is almost a second job.

SVT666

Hawk performance pads create very little dust and I found they grab pretty hard.

I like Axxis Ultimate pads. Very good bite and can withstand the ocassional track day.

Colonel Cadillac

My front wheels collect dust so quickly it's next to impossible to keep them consistently clean, so they are generally dirty all the time. That said, my brakes are good and I care about them more than my wheels.

I am.

But to be fair, I'd be excited to leave work on a moped if it means I get to get the hell away from here.   :mask:

Being that they are for track duty only.....

I have what I think are track biased pads in front on my bike and I'm not really a fan. They seem to take a bit of time to warm up compared to the front, which then makes me rely more on the back which is just bad.
