WookieOnRitalin

I have a buyer for the Saab and will be likely sold within the next week.

Got 4k for a down payment. Finance the rest.

Price Range is < 17k.

I have found several Kizashis around there with less than 15k miles. Anything else I should be checking out?

Requirements:
*Power Seats*
Premium Audio
Fuel Efficient (>28 mpg highway)
Good-Great Handling
Auxilary Input/iPod jack

Not Necessary, but Would Be Nice:
Sunroof
Leather
Automatic Climate Control
Rain Sensing Wipers
Tire Pressure Monitoring System

A used GTI?

This is what I was going to say.  However, a C30 or S40 T5 would be a pretty neat choice too.

Power seats are a big deal. I have a tough time finding a good seating position.

You mean multi-way adjustable seats, which are usually powered. There are lots of power seats that only go back and forth with a seat-back angle adjustment.

I'm serious when I say S40 T5.  They're quick, very well built, and are pretty well equipped.  Great sound system.

A used Passat would have all of that stuff. With the right combo of years/miles you'd be able to hit the $17K sweet spot.

I found my Passat to be a good replacement for my Saab. As mentioned, my other target in that range would be the S40.

Do you share your car with other drivers?

I say A5 Jetta GLI.  Just a Rorschach answer, it's the first thing that came to mind.

I got over 30 in my dad's 2002 with the A/C on going 80 through Oregon.

Narrowed the List:
Suzuki Kizashi
Volvo C30
Volvo S40 T5
VW Passat

Seems as though Legacies are very, very hard to find and do not have the deals compared to those. GTIs do not have power seats. I am not huge on the Jetta. Most of the Japs do not have anything that really appeals to me at the price point and neither do the domestics.

GTIs may not have power seats, but the car has awesome, awesome seats. IMO, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't look at it.

After your experience with Saab, I feel like you'd appreciate the Suzuki warranty.

Are you also looking at the Mazda3?

Camry?

Maxima?

CTS?

My car won't get over 25 mpg, either. But I don't have DI. And I never drive slower than 70 on the freeway. If a car pulls in front of me doing under 70, I'll change lanes and accelerate past it.

The Maxima would probably be my first choice for Rob's criteria, followed by the TSX, then maybe the VW's and Volvos. After having gone through that ridiculous Saab drama, serviceability would be a priority for my next car.

Should I? The warranty is a factor. 7 years/100k on something with less than 20k is 80k of wonderful warranty. I am going to test drive the cars next weekend and see what I like. Then I'll find the right deal.

Might add it to the list. Any recommendations on model years are is everything after '07 pretty much the same?

I believe they switched over to the TSI 2.0T (as opposed to the FSI 2.0T) in 2008. In 2010, the MkVI was introduced.
