If they can afford to paint the bumpers on a basic Yaris, I think painted bumpers here are more than appropriate.

They couldn't even put a beauty panel to cover that crap up?

This is SUCH a good idea...

Onslaught

Um, so you probably pay more for cheap rims and no paint of the bumpers?

CALL_911

Man, I absolutely adore this car. I wouldn't get the "RC spec," as I'm not trying to make a racecar, but I love the FT-86. If the IS is going to be built on the FT-86 platform, I'm already excited for it.

I'm attracted to it in this odd sort of way.
Just get a black one. Then you'll have matching bumpers.

Seems like a pretty half-assed effort.  If they're marketing this to people looking to buy cars for track use, and leaving out stuff like dash trim, the stereo and the passenger's airbag, why didn't they just go all the way and leave out the passenger seats too?  I mean, anybody building a track car is just going to rip the passenger's seat out anyway.

Yeah the point of this car is for it to be turned into a race/drift/track only car.

It's probably more for people making a tuner car, with a custom gaudy front and rear body kit and huge gaudy rims with rubber band tires, and ridiculously customized interior with TV screens coming out of every surface etc, and repainted some crazy color changing paint.  This RC version is a lot cheaper than even the next level up, so it's an ideal starting point because it pretty much doesn't include everything you are going to rip out anyway.

There is a track version for serious track work. Called the N1.

Not sure if actually road legal, but I really don't see any reason why it shouldn't be.

Couldn't they have saved a few pounds and gone with one exhaust pipe??  I mean, seriously- two for a 4-banger??

Well, it does have two cylinder banks and therefore two completely separate exhaust headers...

holy shit, that's ghetto.

I get that they're trying to channel the spirit of 1980's Corollas, but I strongly believe that things like unpainted bumpers should be long forgotten.

Probably has an H pipe, so what's the difference

The point here is to make the car as cheap as possible, without making changes to the production line: hence, its simply de-contented, so no, ther're no beauty panels covering things up.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Then why put any paint at all?

I'm not sure the 10 pounds they saved is worth looking that stupid.  It looks like you've just gotten your car back from repairs and haven't finished it yet.

I think this car is more for ricers who'd end up ripping off the bumpers and wheels and tires anyways. And stuff the dashboard with their own stereos and stuff.

Because they don't want the car to rust before it gets to the dealership: and taking a body out of line in order to not get painted would be more of a hassle than a cost savings.
