Ive only used the one on the RSX after its been parked in the rain. The water just sits there and you cant see through it to back up. Once Im moving its not an issue.

I miss a rear wiper on the rx8 for this reason

I miss having a car with only one wiper.

The Mercedes monowiper was pretty awesome.

The Mercedes one was pretty unique. I suggest looking at YouTube videos of them. It was an extremely efficient design and very cool to watch.

It still wasn't as effective as two wipers.

My dads '89 500SL has that. What's good about it is this: it literally cleans about 80% of the windshield in one swipe and is relatively quiet to.

The major downside? It's slow. Even when it is set to the fastest speed setting, it is slow. So that means in major downpour situations you gotta stop at the side of the road and wait it out because you can't see anything. That actually happened to me in that car once.

The slowness may just be a function of it being a car from the 80s.  My early 90s 240SX had pretty slow wipers too, even on the highest setting.

Except that it absolutely was. It was able to cover over 80% of the windshield, which is more than a dual-wiper system was able to.

Wimmer, the monowipers I've used have all been fairly quick.

Could be. I still think it's a design related issue. Either way I prefer to have two wipers upfront instead of a single wiper.  :ohyeah:
