Who's thinking about buying a Toyobaru?

I think I might do it in 2013. I'm going to sell the Z and pay off some debts first, but I think it's doable for me soon. I should be able to get a supplier discount, which may also help.

Eye of the Tiger

I will buy a used one for $4200 in the year 2019.

Well, I'll sign onto the fan club, if nothing else. Alas, I don't see actually getting one in the cards any time soon.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I'm a fan but have no need for one. My girlfriend is wanting to see them and it could be her next car. So then I'd join.

I love the car but I will let some other yuk take that depreciation hit. $25K? That is a decent daily driver and a hell of a project car. I would swing for it if it were like, $7-10K less.

I would normally think that and get a used one, but but I think this car is already a good value and would buy it new.

Are we getting the Subaru version in the U.S., too? Or just the Scion version?

I already drive a RWD car. I get a boner every time I start it up and feel the rear wheels pushing me. Oh yeah.   :praise:

I'm on the list to test drive one when it comes in.

I gotta see how my finances all play out, but I'm seriously considering getting one and selling the Miata this summer.

Actually, I think this car will probably hold its value very well. Also, remember that the kids that get their hands on these cars aren't exactly going to be gentle with them.

Is that why you find boxy Caprice's and LTD's sexy?

Does it compare to the boner you get when you see the M-B hood ornament in front of you when you drive?

Wow...you're a lot older than I thought you were.  Well, maybe a lot is an overstatement.  You're about 4-5 years older than I thought you were.

And I'll bite.  While it's unlikely that I'll get a new (as in not-used) car, the BRZ is at the top of the list of possible new cars.

I said "would". I'm not in the market for a car, but if I were, I'd buy it new.

I thought that was clear from my post.

I just can't reconcile spending $25K on any new car, no matter how good it is.

Going to wait for the next gen Mustang, or wait for the price of the current gen to drop when the new one comes out.

38 isn't mid life! I was thinking more like 45 or so to go nuts.

It's a legitimate contender as a Mustang replacement, but that probably won't be until late 2013 at the earliest (2014 being more likely).  That assumes they don't discontinue it after a very short run.

For some budgets, a $2.5k car isn't justifiable no matter how good it is. But if your only concern is depreciation, a $25k Toyota sport coupe is as good as it gets.

I'm more excited for the IS.

Same here. Especially if the next IS is to this car what the first G35 was to the 350Z, that would make one sweet little sport sedan.

I was, and still am, thinking I'd like to keep it for 5-6 years, but I may get the new car bug sooner than that.
