Expensive.  Go to Sheetz.  Is that what you people have in Ohio?

I got a flat today.

While the wheel was off, I took a good look at the front suspension and braking hardware. Interesting; although it's pretty much the same design as my old Focus, everything appears to be much simpler and straightforward. And since I found out my car started it's life in California, rust is minimal.

I put a used tire on it for now. The other three are pretty mediocre, so I guess I have an excuse to get new tires.

That wouldn't have happened if you had gotten RELIABLE TIRES. That means a Japanese brand, preferably Toyota or Lexus tires. What were your tires? Definitely European...  :hammerhead:

I don't think there's any difference between the regular model and the California model.

I got a flat yesterday and my tire is ruined.  There is just one Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in my size in the entire country and it was shipped to my tire store today.  Whew!  I called every tire shop in the area and the only one could find one in their entire system could only find....well, one.  $229 with tax.  Fuck me.  I paid $460 for all four of them in the US.

I'm at the Toyota dealer right now getting it checked....it may just be a line.

$832 dollars....

eek.

When did you get this car? I'd check your state's warranty laws. In NJ, most cars are covered for 60 days/2K miles.

I got this car in march, and I bought it AS-IS. I'm at almost 6K miles, so there's not much I can do.

I'm just moreso inconvenienced more than anything. I don't have a choice; quick estimate shows it's around $500 for the tank itself.

Madman

$832?  OUCH!

You need a whole new tank?  Did you run over something?

I think I may have, likely in my driveway. I ran over a branch in my car coming home from work two days ago. Didn't think anything of it.

Seems like they could just weld a patch on... Must have a coating or something on the inside.

Welding a gas tank sounds like a great idea.

And THOROUGHLY flush it out, too.  I had to have the tank on my Fiat X-1/9 welded, so I speak from experience.
