That's because this looks good and Acuras are ugly.

I don't understand, Acura has a slightly less ugly styling language, and they get derided at every turn. However, this car gets a pass!?

Because it looks much better.

This looks better than any current Acura.

How does the Camry's reputation favour the Lexus regarding lower operating costs.  Mpg is pretty well a wash and I expect that maintenance at a Lexus/Camry dealership would be higher than at a Ford/Lincoln; based on notional information.

I do have to admit that Lincoln's been doing quite well in reliability surveys, but they still don't seem to be doing much to lure happy Lexus owners away from their cars. They've been following the leader instead of creating their own path. This car offers nothing against its competitors. I hate to say it, but Wimmer's kind of right in that they have to offer something that speaks to the former glory of their brand. Something like a higher-class Chrysler 300, called the Continental, and a sleek Mustang-based coupe, called the Mark IX.

It's not as bland as the ES or ugly as the TL but it's still a Fusion in a prom dress.  If it weren't for the fact most of Lincoln's customers are either dead or drooling all over themselves in a nursing home, they might actually sell a few of these.

I saw it in the flesh yesterday in NY.

As some may know, I hate Lincoln.  Every design they have put forth in the past ten years, save for the LS, has been lazy garbage.  The new MKZ...looked damn good.

It looks far better in the flesh than it does in pictures.  Yes the grill is stupid, but it's bold, but not obnoxiously large like the MKT's grill is.  The side profile is great, and the rear works far better in person than it does in pictures.  The interior, OTOH looked like it had dime store plastic on the dash and there was a large and visible panel misalignment where the glove box met the passenger door, but given that this was a pre production and that I wasn't allowed inside, I'll let it slide for now.

It was disappointing to see, however, the complete lack of people checking it out.  The Lincoln area was sparsely populated (It had BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, the Aventador, McLaren and a Veyron to compete with) but of those checking out Lincoln, I didn't see a single person look over at the grey MKZ or the red one on a revolving podium.  The first genuinely good looking Lincoln in 10 years was seemingly ignored.  What a shame.

i think the acura TL is aging nicely, but it is time for a redesign.

the outgoing lexus ES looks a lot like the camry while the 2013 resembles the new GS, IMO.

will be cool seeing what acura has in store for the next TL. i hope they stay away from the lozenge look of the hyundai sonata -- not bad on the sonata whatsoever, but too many cars are going with that swoopy shape and it is starting to get tiring.

There's a lot of hate for the TL, but I never minded it. It's a weird looking car. But I like weird looking cars sometimes, and the TL is one of them.

Just a little plain. And the steering wheel looks bulbous/ugly. Compared to the new ES

Its just a few notches off

The crooked "L" on the steering wheel isn't big enough.

Does look nice.  Middle stack looks like they are now copying BMW.

while driving on this easter sunday, i stopped by an upstate NY ford-lincoln dealership. while milling around the lot, i was amazed at how beautiful the grille on the 2013 MKS is in comparison to the gaudy grille of a nearby '12. the interior seems to have been upgraded significantly on the '13 model, as well. my thinking is that many will agree once seeing the revised grille on the MKS and i would imagine the 2013 MKT, too. the '13 MKZ grille is expected to be shared by each new, revised or replaced lincoln after the new MKZ bows this fall. the tail-lamps were tweaked on the '13 MKS and make a much nicer statement. these "little improvements" translate into a far better looking lincoln sedan. the new 20" wheels with a far more aggressive pattern help, too.

I get a Merc S-Class vibe from it, but the MB and BMW are pretty similar anyways.

I do like it though. Much nicer than the MKZ's interior. The exterior of the MKZ looks amazing besides that ridiculous grill.

the car (up close at the NYC show) looked mighty good, but the super large sunroof seemed very odd and unsightly open and its massive glass panel resting partially over the rear window and trunk. another oddity was the way the area surrounding the c-pillar appeared up close and personal. the car looked like the outgoing MKZ in that one area with the vehicle seeming stretched in all other directions from this spot creating the "new" 2013 lincoln "Z". very hard to describe and not unlike other photos on the web and in the pages of various publications, seeing the car in person showed far more than what the camera captured. the taillights and grille both looked elegant, yet sporty and cohesive.
