Yea I am not so sure you want to hear the stereotypes associated with VW drivers.

I had a coworker who had a GTI 337 for a while. The way he talked about the car you would think it was a Porsche. It was a fucking turbocharged MKIV for christ's sake, didn't even have VR6 pedigree.

In my experience the worst of VW owners tend to fall into two camps. Airhead rich daddy college girls, or dudes who feel they are too good to buy Japanese, but can't afford a Bimmer/Benzie. The worst. It is def strange to scoff at Scion for its image but own a VW. The VW scene is prob the worst of them all.

Never saw it that way.  Volkswagens are marketed to the annoyingly hip type, people with turtlenecks and glasses.  And they're a much more respectable brand than Scion.  Sure, I know the people you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure it's the minority and most people don't view them that way.

And the MkIV 1.8Ts were quicker than the VR6s.

There is no difference between a Scion Dealer and a normal Toyota dealer. When I went to drive the xD, it was exactly the same as the Toyota dealer, but with the addition of "no haggle pricing". You guys are being total retards.

Maybe I'm missing your point but I don't see that they are sold in the same building has anything to do with anything.

A Yaris and a Land Cruiser are also sold at the same dealerships - do you think Toyota is targeting the same buyer for both?

Brand management isn't really restricted by the building the vehicles are sold out of. Sorry, but scions are very heavily geared towards young drivers.

I don't deny the douchebaggery within the Honda scene. The difference is, I don't care. The only brands that don't have stigmas attached to them are brands that dont make cars for enthusiasts. If you are scared of what people will think of you in your car buy a Camry.

By who? It really comes down to the owner. VW is a very "aspirational" brand, which can be a negative thing to some folks. Like I said the way dude was talking you would think the car was a modern 928. Its an economy car w/a nice interior.

Right, avg folks don't view them that way. But avg folks don't matter. Car guys count, and I am certain most car guys who know anything about the modern VW scene have made an association between VW and the goofy stretched tire crowd.

VR6s in the same year had a good amount more power and little to no more weight. Only exception was the 337, which can't be compared to anything, according to my old coworker.

Man that dude was a douchebag.

Not my point. You guys make it sound as if theyre playing dub step an using slang in selling he car. In reality, there is no much difference than any other dealer, in fact Scion treated me better than any other competitor's dealer with a similar model.

It's nothing to do with how the dealer treats you, it's just that the brand is marketed toward 16 year olds. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is, but I'd be reluctant to buy one.

SVT666

I had to look up what dub step is.  Youtube came up with this video...which is absolutely unreal, though the "music" leaves a lot to be desired.

Even those have a negative stereotype.  "For those who can't afford a Rolex"...much like the Boxster stereotype, it's largely unfounded with a kernel of truth.
