Much like the Ferrari Enzo, it's named after the company's founder.  Opel's full company name is Adam Opel AG.

I agree. Horizontal lines make the car look longer, which is good on a small car. The other models are already long cars, so the line makes them look even longer and drawn out.

I don't get how people don't like this.  It's such a handsome little care that doesn't fall into the "little car, big styling" trap that most small cars do, and it's not so willfully rehashed and pointless like the 500 is (thought I do like the 500).

I thought the Adam name came from the former Adam Opel AG?  If not, I guess it's ok that they call the Vauxhall version that too
