Japan (IMO the Japanese glamor shots make the car look better)

Specs for the JDM version show it still uses the 1NZ-FE as my car, and the 2ZR from the current Corolla. However, it looks like now it uses a CVT and a 6-speed manual.

I don't hate the design, but I don't particularly like it either. Wonder how much of this Auris bodes for our US model Corolla.

It looks okay.  It has a similar shape to the old Astra and the front has a little bit of character to it.

Hopefully it drives as good as it looks. A hot version of this car would be cool.

It'll drive like a marshmallow cloud on Ambien.

Apparently, Toyota's been making strides in the fun-to-drive department. The new Camry is apparently quite good.

This car looks fairly attractive for it's class.  :ohyeah:

It doesn't, really.

They copied the back end of the new Hyundai i30. the rest is generic Toyota. Unless they have done something dramatic to the driving dynamics, which is very unlikely despite all the PR guff, it is likely to score well for those who want an automotive white good and be of no interest to anyone else. Just like the outgoing model - perfectly competent but utterly forgettable. Let's see when the cars hit the street.

Looks alright.  I'm sick of car names that sound like intricate female body parts, though.

You know the provenance of the name, I presume?

Well, it doesn't look like much that's sold in Canada. I look at this thing and I relate it to the Toyota Matrix... which looks like this:

And then there is this gem (  )  from Hyundai -

So... it could definitely be worse!

Looks a lot more stylish than the outgoing model, which I already like.  No doubt this will be extremely well built and lead the class for fuel economy of the gasoline engines.  Also looking forward to seeing the BMW diesel engines in this car in the future, and the hybrid figures.

Not sure about the rear end styling, the Toyota emblem looks a bit out of place and they could do with using a new steering wheel design.

Nope, but after some dictionary work, I do.  Which renders the name even more...meaningless.

It looks more interesting than anything Toyota sells in North America, but that's really not saying much.  Miles better than the ugly and cheap looking Matrix.

After detailing a bajillion Toyotas, I already know that the interior is going to be about 10% as awesome as this picture makes it seem.  The only redeeming quality Toyota interiors have is the carpeting.  It comes clean really easily.  Otherwise, it's just a buncha cheap plastic like the rest of them.

In order to get that sheen, the car in that picture is actually covered in a thin layer of vaseline and photographed through a pair of pantyhose.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

The rear of the car has similar styling cues to the Lexus CT200h and the interior of this car looks very similar to the CT200h as well (air vents for example).

Looks sharp for a Toyota. That's about it.

The CT200h looks much better though.  Then again it's almost twice the price!

I like it.

I do too, especially in that gorgeous red! Some of the interiors look good, others spartan but I know that goes with price.

Modelista kit (which I really like)

Also, instead of a twist-axle, the new Auris gets a double wishbone setup at the rear for all models. Interesting. Sounds like the car may actually be competent in the curves...

Jalopnik is reporting the new Auris may become the next North American Matrix.

Meh. Looks pretty Toyota generic. Interior is gonna be cheap plastic. Doesn't look awful, but it's a car that will blend in on the road. It ain't anything to write home about.

That kit....awful wheels and the front end looks like a dustpan.

The standard car looks better.
