I like the A6 much more than the squashed turtle look of the A7. Diffferent strokes I guess.

It lists at £82k in the UK - but compared to the £97k which BMW wants for an M6 Gran Coupe - another very very desirable car indeed - although it is pricey, it is not ridiculous for what you get. If only I could get our eco-conscious Fleet Mgmt dept to throw their principles away, and to give a more generous mileage reimbursememt, I am sure I could get the man maths to work... and if not, clearly Wizard could help me to prove that it would be financially sound!

The RS7 is notably less expensive than the M6 Gran Coupe (and CLS AMG) in the US as well. FWIW in the December issue C&D put the RS7 way out in front of the other two.

I agree.  I considered the A7 but like the look of the A6 better.  Price was not a factor.

Hmm... A7 is getting pretty close to that S6 price, so if "price was not a factor" then we're getting closer to the right decision.

 Limiting myself to a 6-cylinder is my way of being green.  The A6 was a fucking rocket when I drove it.  I don't need more power.

See my above post.  It's not just the higher price.   It's also more for gas and insurance.  And the A6 is already fast enough to get me in a lot of trouble.   I don't need more.

Oh, the question was never about need or you'd be shopping for some subcompact that gets 40mpg. :D I just enjoy encouraging indulgence when someone has the means to do so in a way that won't negatively impact the rest of their life. I understand your logic on insurance, gas, etc, it's just not as much fun as the alternative  ;).

That only happens to people who drive a boring car that they try to convince themselves is a fun car because even though it's fat as fuck and has an automatic transmission, it's got a fast 0-60 in a magazine comparison.

There's a negative correlation between the amount of hair on my head and the amount of money I have saved up for a turbo for the BRZ.

I'm so relieved the seller is willing to consider a better offer than the $2500 asking price.  I was going to offer $2800 but was concerned they wouldn't accept it.

Only difference is I'm not retired yet!

How are things with you Vincent?  How's the Caddy holding up these days?  Any good recent speed stories, or are you still putting on a skirt when you drive these days?

Caddy's doing alright; it's nearing 100k miles now, so I imagine my mechanic is going to try to talk me into some pretty pricey maintenance items. It may need new tires by then, too, and I'm thinking of downsizing down to 18" rims because 20"s just don't have much treadlife at all. I once considered this thought blasphemous; chalk it up to me getting older everyday.

On the plus side, I'm usually able to find myself in an empty stretch of freeway doing 90+ on the way back from L.A. every weekend.
