2nd gen. Dad had the rarest one. A 5 speed All Trac. Complete with the center locking differential button. Basically had an N/A version of the Celica All Trac powertrain

They also don't look bad lowered. O god....

CALL_911

2nd gen. My dad had a 1990 DX which I liked a lot when he had it.

I had a 1990 DX as my first car, it was slow but really solidly built.

2002-2006. When I think of "Camry", that's what pops into my mind.

In V6 MT guise, I actually might just do it.

They're by no means exciting cars, the Camry. But they do a lot of things well - which is be spacious, reliable, and look decent.

I think it's pretty bland looking, especially in lower trims. Not really sexy at all.

GoCougs

I agree; I only meant only THAT car (SE V6 which has the 18" 5 blade-spoke alloys).

I dunno, I think the generation before is more attractive in this trim. My brother has a 2011 SE (four-cylinder) and even though I don't really like the car, it does look very nice.

That is a good looking car. And a great car.

Why didn't you buy one?

cawimmer430

I voted for the second generation model. It looks classy and elegant without the typical "vanilla" style that the Camry has become famous for.

The newest model also looks ok compared to all its predecessors.

But I'd rather have this.

The current one. That 3.5 litre really can move.

The newest one. Because unthusiasts know that the newer the car, the better.

Raza

Probably the newest one.  It's an appliance, the newest one is probably the best at being an appliance.

That 3.5 really has some chops to it

I think the IS350 can hit 60 in the really low 5s

Best answer in the world: because I didn't want one  ;).

This is what people don't understand when someone else buys a car.

Kyle: Clay, why didn't you get a car with a manual?  You bought another car with a failomatic.
Me: Because I didn't fucking want a manual.
Kyle: But manual is better!
Me: No.  I didn't want one, so I didn't get one.

I don't really want a car with a stick that much.

'97-'01. Everything made after it is varying degrees of hideous. '02-'06 is one of the ugliest cars ever built IMHO.

Vinsanity

I'm silghtly partial to the '92-'96. Looking back, it seemed like it was a giant leap over the previous model in refinement and general upscale fanciness. It was a good representative of the golden age of Japanese cars. The '97-'01 model that followed looked very plain when it was first introduced, but has arguably aged better than any other generation of Camry yet.

Pretty much agreed.  I don't know what they were thinking with the '02-'06.

I hate Camrys because I hate all cars that are appliances (and Camry drivers in my experience tend to be the most clueless fuckers on the road), but '97-'01 is an objectively good looking car.

I have to admit, the 1985-86 Camry hatchback (with the flush-fitted headlamps) looks pretty cool in an '80s retro sort of way.

But my mother's 1988 Camry LE sedan was pure crap!
