NJSP car. This is pretty routine. The troopers will always do this if you're left lane camping on a state highway, although this guy lit him up pretty quickly. Usually they'll flash their high beams and sharply swerve into the shoulder behind the car they're trailing to get the person's attention. It's pretty funny to watch. I've never seen them actually go through with giving someone a ticket afterwards, though.

This road is I-280 up in the northern part of the state. Ex-gf lived right near where this vid was taken. This is actually a pretty odd road because there are extremely steep hills since it leads into the mountains, and you can literally be going 80mph one minute and the incline will slow you to 50mph within 10 second or so. Was fun with the Passat's 1.8T. But the LR2 would gulp a ton of gas in the 15 minutes or so I had to drive on it.

What kind of oblivious idiot do you have to be to stay in the left lane with a cop right on your tail like that, even if he doesn't light you up?
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, DAMN...that was fun!

I must have passed 30 cars in only 2-3 scoots down the right lane on the way home today. Like 10 truck lengths plus of empty right lane in 2 of those. Drives me mental.

Not gonna say much about yesterday's episode other than it involved topping out 3rd in the CSX.

Top speed?

Good to hear you're getting back into your speeding ways.  It's a sign you're feeling better, man..... :ohyeah:

Nah, top of 3rd is only about 140kph. I kept going in 4th though, wasn't even thinking about a ticket anymore at that point, was too infuriated about having been stuck behind those shit heads for the last 5min.

I think the CSX is electronically limited to 180ish, but it might be the same as the Si which is 212kph. Dunno about over 200, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it say 17something before.

Zing!

Although I've always found that its not as bad on the states as it is here.

I drove the whole way from Erie, PA without getting held up much if at all. 5 seconds over the border back into Canada and it all went to hell.

American drivers are awful.  LLCs burn me up.  I totally understand what VTEC is saying.

People are funny.  as soon as they notice the cop behind them, they slow down to 55, no matter the lane

When a cop comes up behind me on a multi-lane road, I move over.

I've always wondered about this.  If you slow down, do the cops think you're guilty, or is it if you don't slow down, they just think you're oblivious?

If I'm well above the speed limit and I see a cop behind me, I take my foot off the accelerator and slow down naturally, rather than braking.  I always thought braking with a cop behind you shows (a) that you're guilty) and/or (b) that you have no balls.

When a cops behind me, I speed up just to show him who's boss ;)

Just kidding, I move out of the way because Vegas cops are usually doing 10-15+ over no matter what.

Rupert

My thinking is that if I'm going fast, and the cop comes up behind me, either he wants to go even faster, or he's already got me. Either way, the best thing to do is move over. Either he speeds off, or he drops in and lights me up.

Of course, I'm no left-lane hog, so I'm usually already over and the cop just passes me. ;)

Actually, cops are continually annoyed by people in front of them slowing down.

If I'm going slow, like the speed limit, and a cop comes up behind while I'm passing, I'll speed up a bit to finish the pass and then move over.

A cop pulled me over once for passing him. EVERYONE else in this cluster fuck of cars had slowed to like 95kph around him. The left was open so I just coasted past at like 124-125, not pushing my luck too much, got to a clearing and back to the middle lane.

He asked if I thought it was such a good idea to pass a cop, I replied that I thought it was a better idea than slowing to 95kph like the rest of those tools. This went back and forth a bit because I told him I would do it again if the same situation arose. He actually said that he was 'trying not to give me a ticket'.

No ticket out of that one anyway....

Good for you for giving a well-reasoned response as opposed to kowtowing like most probably would.

Yeah, fuck it.  I can't stand people that slow down at the sight of a cop.  If you can see him, he can certainly see you and if you're speeding, he's already got you clocked, so why fucking bother?  I'd get so annoyed with that as a cop...though I bet for some they don't even notice it anymore...?  I've passed a cop before.  He was strangely going exactly the speed limit in the right lane on the freeway.  I was doing 5 over and came up behind him...just moved over early, made sure to use my blinker, and passed him in the left lane.   Zero fucks given.
