You have to pick a Daewoo that you must use on a daily basis. To open it up, I will post all Daewoos from 1990 onward, worldwide.

Lanos

Leganza

Nubira

Espero

Matiz

Tosca/Magnus

Lacetti

Kalos

The Aveo almost looks good with those wheels.

I actually like the way the 3-door looks with those sporty wheels and that light bodykit

Good lord, this is like picking which venereal disease I want.

I do admit that looks okay.

I'll take the one with the transverse I-6.

Which one was the most expensive?

I voted for the Espero.

A buddy of mine in high school had one (1.5-l Automatic) and it seemed like an ok car at the time. Reasonably quick in everyday situations and spacious.

Lacetti, I guess.

Back in the day a local dealer used to give away a free Leganza with every new car purchase.

I gave it to the Lacetti - the sedan was the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" for quite some time.

Voted Matiz -- I know none of the others is any fun, so hopefully the smallest car is. Runner-up is the Kalos, then Lacetti.

sportyaccordy

Lanos looks liek it would be most fun to drive. I have a soft spot for the blatant GS ripoff though.

I don't think so. Early models have solid rear axles, and a 3cyl making about 50HP.

The Leganza? I could see why you'd call it a GS ripoff, but I got more of an S-Type vibe for some reason.

I actually almost think the Leganza was attractive on the outside. Honestly, I can't call any Daewoo ugly; some of them look fairly attractive for their day.

So sad that they were all terrible.

In HS my sad sack Korean friend was stuck with a Daewoo, because his parents are first generation immigrants and they were/are crazily patriotic. Too bad Korean cars sucked back then.

If it's open to any Daewoo sold since 1990, though, I can pick a newer Matiz, yes?

My girlfriend's family has the updated first-gen (theirs is badged as a Chevy Spark) -- maybe someday I'll get to drive that and establish whether it's wretched.

It is wretched....... in many ways, the second gen Matix (the one with oblong rather than round headlights) was rather nastier than the first one.

cawimmer430

I'd still rather have a Plymouth Volare over any Daewoo.  :praise:

Ugh, I just realized how horrible this shot of the Nubira looks. The wheel covers look photoshopped in, and the mechanicals behind the front fascia are staring me back in the face. Ugly.

By the way, you forgot the Daewoo Nexia. Badge engineered POS Opel Kadett / Pontiac Le Mans.

There was also a minicar called Tico (based on the Suzuki Alto), not sold in Western Europe (mercifully) and the Tacuma/Rezza which was a Scenic competitor and which had a very long production life.

Just before the company imploded in 2002, the US Daewoo distributor was planning on importing the Tacuma/Rezza and was holding a competition where contestants could send in their suggestion to name the new model.  (Daewoo provided a photo of the Tacuma/Rezza as inspiration for anyone willing to suggest a name.)  If Daewoo had chosen to use any of the suggested names, the person who sent it in was to have won an example of the car they had helped to christen.  As far as I know, nobody won because Daewoo went bust soon afterwards and the Tacuma/Rezza was never sold here under any name.
