A buddy of mine is selling his 2010 Hyundai IX35 1.7 CRDi. It's a 1.7-l 4-cylinder turbodiesel with 116-horsepower, 6-speed M/T, FWD and slightly over 50,000 km on it.

My impressions. Good build quality and interior, comfortable suspension and seats for an SUV, the diesel engine was pretty quiet when you're inside the car. Good, fluid acceleration. Fuel consumption according to my friend is around 5.4 L / 100 km which is about 43.5 mpg roughly converted (try doing that in a Ford Excursion 6.8 V10!). Overall a nice car.

I took a few shots of the car for my portfolio at a good location in the pouring rain! Here are some snapshots of the car which he'll use on the Internet.

We get this car here as the Hyundai Tuscon, and it only comes with a 2.0L or 2.4L engine.

It's a nice SUV, even if a bit strange looking.

We don't get the 2.4 but we do get the 2.0 163-horsepower gas engine.

My friends model is the entry-level version. The absence of chrome-imitating plastic on the outside gives that away.

You've got some! On the grille and foglights. The U.S. base model has neither.

It'd sell faster if he cleaned it up a bit.

I always thought the Tucson was a good looking CUV.

Yeah, but the doors and a "chrome" railing around the windows is missing.

He did. Just for the shoot. But it was raining pretty hard and the weather forecast talked about snowfall later that day. My equipment was in the back of his car. The location I choose would have been pure suicide for a RWD BMW 1-Series (getting stuck).

The car got dirty during the shoot. And I only managed to take three great shots anyway. My camera and my flashes were drenched with water - but thankfully they're waterproof up to a certain degree.

Needs wheel covers too.

Winter tires on cheap steel rims.

He's got some nice rims for the summer, but he hopes to have sold the car by then.

Behind the scenes. When the weather is shit and you need quick lighting methods, the composite method comes into play. Check out the pouring rain.

I like the looks of the current ix35/Tucson but it needs to be 4WD.  2WD SUV = Poseurmobile!  :evildude:

I agree. I think it's silly to offer an SUV without giving it AWD, but sadly many people buy SUVs these days and won't need AWD, hence the manufacturers make it optional on some cars.

At least a FWD SUV is still more capable than a RWD SUV in crappy weather conditions. A relative of mine recently bought a BMW X3 - with RWD (no optional AWD). Now that's FAIL!!!
