Those little subcompacts aren't small inside, Cougs.


A Fit has 41" of legroom. Yaris (sedan) has ~36". Versa Sedan is pushing full size numbers in regards to legroom. And those seats are really high and upright (for better or worse).


The IS, has only 30" of legroom, and the seat is very low to the floor making it feel like even less.


It's more about ergonomics rather than physical space; I've noticed many Japanese cars feel roomier than they really are because of a more upright seating position, but many American cars (especially GM - see the Cruze and Malibu) feel more cramped because of the lower to the ground, more reclined driving position.

Does this mean no manual transmission since it's based off the GS?

I'm sure the number of those sold with a manual was not worth the amount of money it'd cost.


Also, this car is really looking good in non F-Sport trim. Very sharp.

It's no Catera, but it is aggressive and bold. Those are two styling features nobody else is utilizing right now in this segment. The 3-Series is dull, the Mercedes is stodgy, and the Infiniti is just ugly. This car is a looker in this segment.

I'm starting to like the front end.  It's not beautiful by any means, but it is aggressive and according to Motor Trend it's a real hoot to drive.
