Looks like a retro-designed version of the late 1930s Mercedes G4. It's probably where the inspiration came from!

I'm saying the inspiration to make a 6-wheeled MERCEDES G-Wagon Pickup most likely came from this MERCEDES G4. History and Heritage!

Auto Motor und Sport got their hand on these. They are labeled as prototypes close to series production, which is expected to start in the fall. Price "around €350.000" which is actually cheaper then I thought considering what the GL 65 costs. Power is usually split 30:40:30 of course it can be locked in 100%. To some extent I am impressed that they are bothering building this.

I know one Hummer H2 owner in Germany who would love this as an upgrade, however I don't think a vet clinic throws off that much money.

I wonder how this thing would compare with an H1 Hummer.  I'm guessing around 3 times as expensive but would it be able to do desert fun stuff better?  Helluva lot faster, quieter, and more comfortable but could it trek through or over stuff that the H1 couldn't?

It would most likely run out of gas quicker than an H1.

In theory, 6x6 would probably mean more opportunities to gain traction, so it seems as if the 6x6 could be more useful for getting up steep inclines. Turning radius has to suffer with a 6x6, though, so the 4x4 is most likely more maneuverable.

I know Merc was working on a G-class wagon utilizing electric motors in the wheel hubs in the same way the H1 used portal gears to eliminate a low slung diff.  IIRC, the electric motors were powered by a conventional Merc diesel which was attached to a generator, not a transmission.  It would be nice if they worked a bit more on that, as opposed to this monstrosity.

Depends. On a lot of 6x6s, the rear axle is on an air bag. If you want to turn tighter, you lift the rear axle, and turn on the front rear, making the raduius smaller than it would be with a "normal" 4x4.

On solid suspension rigs,, the vehicle turns around a point between the two axles, so its not really that bad anyways.
