He should stop rear-ending semi trucks at high rates of speed.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I think a Corvette Z06 can outbrake a semi truck. I'm not sure though.

Looks like the safety guard worked inasmuch as it appeared to have stayed intact. It simply sliced through/over such a low minimally built vehicle. The layman in me says a guard low enough to prevent a guillotine effect on a Corvette would interfere with operation (contact the ground over bumps, hills, etc.).

Great comment:

"What is 13 feet tall, 8 feet wide, weighs 80,000 pounds and invisible?"

Honestly, it's not like these things stop on a dime or appear out of nowhere. Keep your distance, don't outdrive your brakes, keep your eyes on the road (and not your phone) and you won't hit one.

I remember trucks in Europe having underrun protection bumper things that were designed to stop this kind of thing. They damped & absorbed energy - not just crude barriers.

Added protection on trailers? People should pay attention of what's going on ahead of them.

Interestingly, those bumpers on truck trailers are called "Mansfield Guards", after Jayne Mansfield's grisly death.
