I honestly don't mind it, actually.

I saw the front and instantly thought "Kia Sorento".

Looks good, though.

Looks good. Interior looks very nice, but I wish Toyota as a brand would tone down the dash light schemes a bit. Too many colors and things popping out of places. Personally, I always thought the old VW "blue" dash look was one of the cleanest I've seen, and I really enjoyed having that on my Passat.

These crossovers are really looking all pretty uniform these days. They truly are the new station wagon and have the bland personalities of station wagons to go along with it.

MaxPower

With every succeeding generation these crossovers look more and more like minivans.

Because minivans are so vastly more usable ;).

Jesus, and crooked Toyota shifter yet again...

Is it actually crooked or does it have a zig-zaggy shift gate (like the 1st gen Mazda 6) in lieu of a trigger/button on the shifter?  The shift pattern plate would indicate that it's a gated shifter and to shift out of park, you need to push left and then pull back to engage reverse.  And Neutral is back and left from reverse, then drive is straight back from neutral with sport mode being to the side of drive.

I think it looks nice but all of these vehicles are beginning to look same or at least predictable. If not, the end up controversial like the '14 Jeep Cherokee. Toyota has more to lose so it needed to play it safe, as with the Camry.

Looks like you have to push right to and down to pull out of park and into reverse.

It's crooked and zig-zaggy. The previous gen 4Runner and FJ Cruiser have crooked shifters as well...drives me a little nuts.

I mean look at this thing! Blargh!

My mom test drove a Subaru Forester once and disqualified it from her car search purely because it had a zig-zag shifter.

They take a little getting used to if you're coming from cars that have a button to unlock the shifter.  I actually kind of prefer the zig-zag gate.  It's easier for me to tell by feel where the shifter is.

CJ

It looks a CX-9 was hit with a Sorento and an ugly stick.

Colin

Even so, it is still better looking than the gawky new RAV4.

Wonder if this one has any feel at all to the steering - I rented the current model the other day, and to say it was light and vague would be an understatement!

Secret Chimp

I don't like the encasing of colored lenses inside of clear plastic for the tail lights. It looks like blister packing.

I think all we have to do is rename minivans, and they will be considered more "cool". They're some of the most useful vehicles around. Make them all wheel drive and give them a new term.

Where does this fit in with the Venza?

Catman

New highlander looks good. Definitely has a more masculine look.

Funny, when I saw the front I thought Subaru Forester.

How will anyone tell it's new?  It looks just like the last one.  And the one before it.

Overall, it's a huge pile of meh.  Which means women everywhere will be clamouring for one, unfortunately.

Hey, you stole my gag!

But seriously, a Toyota designer photocopied a picture of the old highlander, grafted on a Subaru Forester grille then handed it to their production people and said "Build this".  In a way, I can't blame them.  The Highlander has been one of the most popular mommy-buses of the past decade, so why mess with success?  However, it is still terminally dull and about as exciting to use as my washing machine.

CJ

It looks much better in person.

Catman

Yeah it's decent looking in person. I'd get one.

LonghornTX

A huge step forward IMO. I like it.
Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.

Atomic

Looks far more upscale inside than the outgoing model. I am liking it more and more. It's Lexus-like in its inner appearance.
