Spotted today! Absolutely gorgeous Chevrolet Caprice Classic Wagon! Looks like a late 1980s version!

The station wagon I grew up with was the Pontiac variation on that.

On trips to the beach, I remember my back and thighs getting stuck to the shitty green fake-leather vinyl. The chrome covered belt buckles basically branded the GM logo into my skin, too.

The car has a ventilation system that broke practically the day after you fixed it, a really loud and inefficient V8... man, POS POS POS

I've never been a fan of driving/riding shirtless because of that. Even cloth seats can get annoying (itchy instead of sticky).

This is why I prefer cloth seats. I've never liked vinyl or leather seats, but I'd prefer vinyl to leather because it's easier to clean and lasts longer.

a few of my neighbors had this wagon while growing up in the early 80s.  I was a fan of them.  They looked cool (although i'm not partial to the "woody" version), had a ton of space, and could easily tow campers and small boats.  They drove way better than full size chevy and ford vans too.

back then, kids just sprawled out in the back and slept.  very few people used seat belts.  it was a simpler time.  no one sued anyone.

The perfect USA road trip car. That trunk is big enough for luggage and you can comfortably sleep in it to. No need to waste money on motels!

It's a huge car alright! But a 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Wagon is larger than this "downsized" monstrosity!

I realize that these cars weren't the best in terms of quality, but it's the DESIGN which I love about them. This is one sexy car IMO.

I love how GM felt they needed to put super-sporty rear view mirror housings on a car with the aerodynamic profile of a barn.  I bet those mirrors made huge difference in terms of wind resistance and corresponding fuel economy!

They may be more for noise control by reducing buffeting off of the mirrors.

That's gotta be the right answer. The mirrors on the Caddy are as square as you can get them, and I never noticed any buffeting issues; there was more wind noise near the a pillars than anything.

My parents owned two of those when I was a kid. The 1982 had a third row of seats facing the back window. Otherwise folded down for a lot of storage space.
