I'm not sure how that could happen. I mean the speakers are inside the seat and I don't see how they could really do anything like that. Unless he didn't have the stock ones in it. I worked on hundreds if not thousands of Miata's back in the day and I never saw anything happen with the headrest with or without speakers.

Not saying he's wrong. I just don't know how that could happen. Now the original miata's do have very low seats and when you head snaps back you can hit your head on the top of the seats. And the ones with speakers are a little harder then the ones without. Miata seats got higher and higher over then years and I think it had to do with this.

His is a 1.6 so it's an earlier car for sure. Maybe he just got a concussion from the short seats?

They are two hard things aimed at the back of your skull.

Though you may be right, maybe they didn't have anything to do with the concussion. Mazda probably thought of that when designing the seats, but it's just what he said.

There's all kinds of safety regs when it comes to headrests and seats.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I figured the reason they weren't even offered on the NB was because of safety regs becoming stricter.

They stopped using them to explore more advanced options.

I've had the seats out of my NB, can't imagine there being any thinner options. Even FD seats are probably the same size.
NB seats are thinner then NA's. However I wasn't as much of a fan of how tall they are. Even if it helps keep your head from snapping back like they did in the old ones.
I do think the RX seats sit lower however and I know they weigh about half as much as a Miata's.

My friend is like 6'2 or 6'3, and he took out the cushion to fit in his.  I don't know how he drives it still, he always looked very uncomfortably positioned while driving it.
