car's coming friday.

dealer (who is 2 hours away) had one of his boys pick up the car tuesday (i don't know from where exactly but several hour drive).  he's having his boys drive it to my house on friday.

i know why they're taking their sweet time.  everything's already done paperwork wise financially.  there's nothing they can add on like gap insurance or extended warranty bullshit because it's a purely internet transaction.  i don't even set foot in the dealership.  there's no incentive for them to do anything so that's the delay.

i wanted to buy the car from the place i test drove it near where I live, but they weren't being straight with me on price.  i asked them to break the price down on a typewritten form:  price, documentation fee, window etching fee (apparently unavoidable), tax, license and registration fee, destination fee, etc and he kept giving me nebulous answers.  I emailed him twice about this but didn't get a satisfactory response so apparently they don't play the internet game very well.  even if the price were 1 or 2 hundred bucks higher than carsdirect, I would have bought it from them.

friday, if i don't get the car, well...   i guess i'll be pissed.   :frown:

i just talked to the dealer.  if something "comes up" and he's not able to deliver it tomorrow, i'm gonna take a cab out there to get my car.

i'll post pics tomorrow afternoon.

Bring some backup, shit might get rough.

Those VW boys can be pretty unstable, hope you catch them after they just finished roasting a fatty.

Based on how agitated the waiting has made everybody, I think this topic would make excellent forum trollbait.

It probably is.

The dude's probably going to come back with a '74 Monaco.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

You know, now that I think about it. If you threw some stiffer shocks and  and springs on it and put some stick rubber on it. A monaco might not be too bad of a car. Maybe modern it up with a carbon fiber hood and wing?

Laconian

Put a VQ and a Toyota badge on it and now you're talking.

Chassis braces and sway bars would probably be the most helpful.

Dual rudder conversion?

Stabilizer boosters on the fenders for high speed stability too.

damn... that's a beetle?  Really?  That ain't gurly.  Looks cool.
those wheels are hot! old school.
its got a dee-zil!  Cool.
it's a stick.  Super Cool.

MX793

I've gotta say, the latest Beetle in black with the retro wheels is a sharp car.  It's amazing how a little subtle change in the roofline made the car go from bubbly, girly cartoon car to something quite a bit more mature and "gender neutral".

yup

f__k man.  i can't get these pics to load unless i adjust the size to the smallest least resolution.  it's weird.

Try uploading them to imgur instead?

Nice car! Really unique spec too. What made you pick the diesel?

I think some red stripes along the doors would look good on it.

I thought you said the diesel was too slow?

Congrats though. It's not the car I would've chosen, but I've always thought it was a nice looking car ever since they redesigned it.

I think the R-Line would have been cooler, but either way, congrats and nice car.
